Music Therapy is a type of health organization in which music is used in a therapeutic way to show physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs a person may have. In this type of therapy treatment the therapist will play different tunes of music and have the sounds made with all sorts of items. This then relaxes the patient and can then allow the brain to almost seem like it's rewiring itself just to the music. Music therapy is used to help people with special disorders to use the parts of their brain that may not be functioning properly or not functioning at all. The benefits of using this type of treatment is because it is more comforting in some aspects. For example, most people would prefer the options of treatment that do not include pill or steroid medications and that don't involve being in a hospital partially. Music therapy helps patients with problems that affect their cognition, emotion and mood, social interaction, and general health. Overall, music therapy is effective because it exercises the brain in a number of different ways. Music therapy should be used much more often for people with Asperger's syndrome and Autism. It provides a more positive alternative to drugs and other hospital treatments. Even though there may not be a cure yet, children with these diagnoses are still young people who deserve a humane life that doesn't involve being poked and prodded. Music therapy can provide this alternative for these children that have so much characteristic that needs to not be held back. No one should be forced to not be themselves or not show their true personality because that's what makes us who we are.
