Forrest Gump and the Blind Side both have strong characters, inspirational moments, and incredible hardships. The movies show two very smart people who are misunderstood by many. Forrest has an amazing life surrounded by people he loves and cherishes. Forrest grows up in southern Alabama. His house has a southern-style look and feel. The scenery looks very realistic from his hippy girlfriend to the men in uniform serving their country. The Blind Side is inspired by a true story featuring Michael Oher who is a homeless young adult who struggles with a hard life not having the education he needs, or his parents to support him. He grew up in the inner city housing projects in Memphis Tennessee. Forrest has a hard time through his life by people telling him that he would never make anything …show more content…
Forrest Gump is uneducated and acts if so he was a teenager. He does not think of what he is doing most of the times. Forrest had a hard time from when he was a child with braces on his legs to being bullied by other students. No one takes Forrest seriously and it goes on throughout his lifetime. Michael Oher is a young black African American who was abandoned by his drug addicted parents and left him alone to defend for himself. He does not have the proper education to be successful in life. He goes through hard times by going back to school and trying to make himself successful and two adults with a family of their own take him in as their own. In the end both character’s make out rich. Michael and Forrest never seemed to give up on what they believed in. The Blind Side is more of an emotional back and forth of failing and succeeding. Forrest Gump is more of a comedy going through important parts of history but also has a heartwarming touch to it. Both movies are very inspirational and teaches you never to give up on things that you do not realizing you could achieve
The book The River Between Us by Richard Peck was interesting, it talks and describes the different events that happened to Tilley the main character. The movie Gone With the Wind was easier to understand because it showed the different characters. Just as the book, the movie Gone With the Wind also describes the different events that happened in the life of Scarlett, the main character. Even though the book and the movie are different because they describe the life of two different women, they are similar because their lives were effected by the Civil War.
One factor that stood out to me a lot that can be contrasted between the two texts is the image of family. In Cheaper by the Dozen you get the image of an all American kind of family. The kind you would see in magazines or on postcards. The movie gives off the façade of the ideal family. It shows you
The Sandlot movie made millions of dollars. Why? Because like the movie the kids had a childish belief that dog crosses the fence was a big, scary, and savage dog that would eliminate anyone who dares to cross its path but they come to realize that the dog was a kind loving dog it only harms to them was his licking. To grow up soon or later and lose our childish beliefs it’s human nature. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, By Harper Lee Scout can be seen as a tomboy as she does not act as our world believes a girl should act like. Scout changes from innocence to experience because her way of looking at world changes as she matures as the years passed by.
Good Will Hunting, by Gus Van Sant, is a well-respected movie meant to inspire others. It reflects how nature and nurture work together in creating a mature human being. In the film we watch a man with a matured brain go through a struggle between his past and his future. He knows that he is highly intelligent but he chooses not to show it often due to his childhood abuse. While watching the movie, the audience doesn’t realize that there is a lot of science being depicted. The movie goes along with the theme of nature versus nurture as well as how the brain generally works. Specifically, the movie seems to focus on the general function of the brain and how different surroundings can make and break the personality of human beings.
...nd genuine kindness extend further than just treating the President of the United States like a normal person, even though Forrest Gump is ignorant of the ‘issues’ of different people. At the University of Alabama, two African American students are granted acceptance after an enormous ordeal on blacks going to colleges with whites because of the insane amount of racism the United States of America had. As the two African American students made their way up the staircase, one dropped a book and Forrest rushed through police officers and rioters to pick up the book and hand the book to the colored student who dropped it. Forrest’s ignorance definitely contributes to his selflessness and generosity towards people who are different (during the time period in American history the movie was based on), however, it is one of his traits that makes him a true unexpected hero.
In the movie “the curious case of Benjamin button”, it had many differences from the short story. In the movie Benjamin’s life was planned out differently from the short story, and had a better closure. “The curious case of Benjamin button” both the short story and the movie were great, but the story of the movie was completely rewired from its short story version .
Forrest’s IQ is significantly lower than the average person’s and as a kid, it restricts him from going to a normal school. Even though it is not him who creates the opportunity to have a proper education, when he is given the chance he makes the most out of it by graduating high school, and going further to attain a college degree. Academics are not the only part of school that pose a challenge to him; Forrest has to put up with exclusion as well as verbal and physical abuse. Even though it is not easy for Forrest to get along with others, he is able to get through his social hindrances by finding someone special named Jenny. She loves him, looks out for him, and through the bullying Forrest ends up finding great happiness with his one special girl. After school, Forrest joins the military, which is one of the best solutions for him. As a result of his IQ, finding a long lasting career would be very difficult. The army is a respected job that Forrest excels at far past the ordinary person. Thus, joining the army creates many opportunities for Forrest, changing his life for the better. He wins a medal of honor and discovers ping pong which he goes on to play in the Olympics. Something far better than honor and fame that he finds in the military is friendship, and out of the friendship Forrest finds riches. There are
The way they contrast is in the book The Plot has many little things that lead to one big thing yet the movie has a small amount of big events that lead into one huge event. this changes how suspenseful the story is and how curious you get as a reader. an additional thing that is unalike is that the book's plot has a lot of detail where as the movie is missing a lot of scenes from the book. This happens to many movies which makes the book The better choice. along with these differences are some similarities these being both plots create the same storyline. another is that both plots have some parts that are completely unrelated to others. To Kill a Mockingbird in To Kill a Mockingbird are different as well as the
These two movies can be viewed as a single movie much like The Godfather movies but watching two of them as one movie is more predominant. Watching them like this allows us to enjoy the invigorating spectacle of the two films' bold balancing act, as on the one hand there stands the optimism and hopefulness of the more conventionally romantic Before Sunrise, while on the other hand we witness the often savage skewering of same in the much bleaker and despairing sequel. The two films are more rewarding when consumed as one because we observe the counter-development of these films, as they effectively switch positions and the outlooks over the
We often times are dealt a hand in life that we have no control over. Depending on the life we are given depends on what demons we carry with us into our adult lives. From a loving home to a very dysfunctional home we all have things in our life that make us who we are. The life we a dealt truly doesn't make us who we are, it is whats on the inside that makes us out to be who we are. Some individuals are given the abilities to do more, but do not use their abilities to their full potential.
Animal Farm by George Orwell and the Truman Show by Peter Weir are very different texts but explore similar themes. Animal Farm is about a community of animals that overthrow a farm. The Truman Show is about a young man who was adopted at birth by a TV network and grew up in a reality Tv show. Animal Farm and the Truman show display three main themes through the two texts, They explore what a good life for an individual is and how the good life is displayed by them, It also explores what a good society is for a group and it finally explores the influence that power has through the texts.
They both depict man 's struggle between being inquisitive and gaining knowledge, show the consequences of gaining knowledge and of staying ignorant, and they both show why both gaining knowledge and staying ignorant help the oppressive forces gain power over the human race. “But why does it matter? Either way both the wise characters and the ignorant characters end up saddened from their knowledge of the despicable world or dead from their own ignorance,” a reader may ask. The answer is it shows humanity; not to stay ignorant to the world around, but do not stay pridefully ignorant with many
Therefore, after analyzing the factors such as lack of support from family, poverty and discrimination, that the main characters of the two movies faced in order to reach their ultimate goal, we can say that the two films are similar and try to convey the same message. Furthermore, Maggie and Rudy both display the same traits, which helps them propel towards their goal. These traits of dedication and sacrifice certainly are the key to success and any challenge no matter how big it won’t be able to stop an individual from reaching their goal.
...ing both how ego's are built and torn down, and how people have to depend on other people. The movie received many awards and rightly so due to the great craftsmanship of the relationship ties and attributes each character was given. These two specific dramatic relationships are good in convincing the audience that these could be real situations and that they do exist.
Kennedy, right before he got shot. After college Forrest went into the Army and talked about him meeting his best friend Bubba. He was in the Vietnam War where he met Lieutenant Dan. Deeper in the war they got ambushed by the Viet Cong resulting in Bubba dying and Lieutenant Dan losing both of his legs. In result of Lt. Dan losing his legs he becomes enraged at Forrest because he believes it is his destiny to die in honor on the battlefield. The movies then moves on to hip going to Washington D.C. to earn his medal of honor for his bravery of rescuing two of platoon members. At this time the hippie movement was going on and everyone in it was anti-war. Amongst this group was Jenny. Jenny gets abused by her current boyfriend and Forrest comes in to save the day, later resulting in Jenny telling Forrest about all her travels and Forrest giving her his medal of honor. Forrest proceeds to pick up the sport ping pong while still enlisted in the army. As it so happens to turn out he’s amazing at the sport and he lands in the All-American Ping Pong team. He plays in China and for President Richard Nix on the
