We often times are dealt a hand in life that we have no control over. Depending on the life we are given depends on what demons we carry with us into our adult lives. From a loving home to a very dysfunctional home we all have things in our life that make us who we are. Some individuals are given the abilities to do more, but do not use their abilities to their full potential. Good Will Hunting a movie that shows us that no matter what life brings we can over come our difficulties and let life take a hold and see where it takes us. The way that Sean handle Will and the way he approached him through their therapy sessions was pretty special. I was able to see the effect that good therapy can have and how it works. This movie had some inspirational points and fruit for thought. The scene in the movie that left a huge impact was the seen when Sean and Will were siting by the pond when Sean tells Will what he thinks. I learned that often times we can't relate to someone unless we have experienced it in life. I was able to truly understand what love is, a soulmate and how important it is to truly love something more than yourself. What it means to let your heart lead the way and embrace what you want to do. The struggles among young people are real and very different from each individual person. I was able to see how important it is to take things slowly through therapy and allow people to open up to
Ken Kesey's award-winning novel, "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest", was adapted into a film in 1975 written and directed by New York City native Bo Goldman and Czech director Milos Forman. Towards the end of the novel and film, Chief Bromden escapes from the ward. This scene is conveyed differently in the novel and film; however, there are evident similarities between each form of media. This scene is important to the plot because it wraps up the entire storyline. In the film and novel, similarities within Chief Bromden’s escape from the ward include the way Chief escaped, how he couldn't hear anyone in the ward due to being deaf, and how McMurphy assisted Bromden with gaining his confidence to lift the panel and throw it through the window. McMurphy essentially changed Bromden to help him break out of the asylum and back into the real world.
Gus Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby explore the themes of trauma and redemption through the creators unsystematic stories. Traumatic events and it’s effects on both protagonists are the main focus of the texts. Sant’s troubled genius, Will Hunting has difficulties connecting with individuals due to a history of emotional abuse. Fitzgerald’s famous romantic comes in the form of, Jay Gatsby, a financially successful man that has difficulties moving on from his former lover, Daisy. Both Jay and Will are on the path to self actualisation. Equally notable is the negative effects of the past on their personal lives and the different methods each character takes to overcome these experiences and grow. The creators
The first thing we see is Christian Bale’s almost surreal beer belly, similar to an overdue pregnant stomach. He stands in front of a mirror and adjusting one of the most complex comb overs I have ever seen, which includes artful interweaving of glued hair extensions. Add to this a pair of smoked colored pilot glasses and a sophisticated outfit that screams out our worst nightmares of the late 1970s, and it is dangerously tempting to expect a continuation of a hard groomed freak show, populated by thoroughly ridiculous people who make and says ridiculous things. Especially as the second thing we see is one of Amy Adams countless, magnificently deep necklines. But if that's what we believe will happen, we will become thoroughly
S. E. Hinton’s argument is given from the perspective of a 14 year old Greaser named Pony boy Curtis who is being raised by his older brothers Darrel and Soda pop. The theme of the Outsiders is no matter what side you may grow up on whether you are a Greaser or a Socs, that you all can still have the same problems, see the same solutions, and dream the same dreams. You are also able to see how his character grows up and matures during the various interactions throughout this book. The two gangs in the book are the Greasers and the Socs (socials) and honestly, even after reading the book the only reason they didn’t like each other is they both had assumptions about each other that really weren’t correct.
The movie teaches us to look beyond the cover and into who someone is as a person. We also learn that sometimes contact with people makes us reconsider our judgement towards them, to find out the real person underneath.
Good Will Hunting is the graceful tale of a young gentleman’s struggle to find out where he belongs in the world, by first finding out who he himself is. In this film, Matt Damon takes on the role of a disturbed genius that has a keen understanding of the deepness of human character. The film is a voyage through the mind of Will Hunting as he is required to undergo psychotherapy as an alternative to serving jail time. With the assistance of a psychologist, played by Robin Williams, Will learns about himself and recognizes his individual worth in the world by comprehending what is most important to him in his own life. This motion picture serves as a source of superb example for film technique. Gus Van Sant’s directing ability joined with the writing skills of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who also plays Will’s best buddy, Chuckie, is a vibrant mixture of technical features used to induce sentiment and compassion amongst the viewers of this heart-warming film. Characteristics of the color, angles, shots, camera movement, editing, and distortions are all each particularly noteworthy to the general composition of Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting.
The issue of how we should be educated and what we should learn in school is a highly talked about issue in the United States today. Should students go to school for twelve years? Do they need to all of these standardized tests to be a successful adult in society? Or issues such as grading and how it affects students. Good Will Hunting is a positive movie for a viewer, which shows the issue we see in schools and society today of being schooled or being well educated. Will Hunting is a janitor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a rather quiet individual that doesn’t do much except clean the college and hang out with his friends. He does not go to college and instead is the janitor at one of the most prestigious

This movie was inspiring and encouraging to anyone who is struggling with something. Overcoming his controversies in life became the main point of the movie. Knowing that this movie was based upon a true story inspires the people even more.

Will is an orphan with a criminal record of Assault, grand theft auto, assaulting a police officer, etc. Will solves a complex math problem, which leads to him being discovered by professor Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) as a genius. Through his journey he meets various people from presidents to musicians which he influences along with the people around him. He becomes a media icon, and also influences very critical historical events. He does many things throughout the film but due to his mental state he is totally unaware of his impact on the world. During the rest of the film Forrest meets a few individuals all striving for personal dreams and trying to find something bigger than themselves to give meaning to their lives. He meets a military lieutenant whose goal is to follow the footsteps of family members who died as heroes in war, another soldier who dreams of opening a shrimp business and the love of his life Jenny who longs to be famous and touch the lives of others. Sadly, the dreams of those around him end in despair. Meanwhile the main character achieves this success that everyone else wishes fro without even realizing it or caring for that matter. The film is a great display of existentialism and the point that we must create our own meaning to life.
‘Our interest in the parallels between the adaptation inter-texts is further enhanced by consideration of their marked differences in textual form,’
This movie starts off as Jordan Belfort, the main character in the movie, losing his job as a stockbroker in Wall Street. After losing his job, he goes and gets a job in a Long Island brokerage room. In the brokerage room, he sells penny stocks. Thanks to him being aggressive in his selling skills, he was able to make a profit. With the new income, he gives his wife a bracelet and she asked him why doesn’t he go after the people that can afford to lose money, not the middle-class people or lower income people. That is when he gets the idea to get a lot of young people and train them to become the best stock brokers.
Back to my original question - why is Forrest Gump such a special film? The film carries the audience through some of the most historic moments of American and World history, and grazes issues such as race, war, sexual abuse and a wide variety of prejudices. If the film teaches us anything it's perhaps that history is not a static thing. We learn from the film that history isn’t as straightforward as we think. It depends on whose eyes we are seeing it from. And looking at Forrest Gump’s incredible journey, it reminds us that we are here in the world, and we can make a difference. And maybe courage, kindness, simplicity, and love are the important things after all.
The Good Will Hunting is a very touching film that is based upon the life of the main character Will Hunting. Will is a young man who struggles on a daily basis to overcome his haunting past and continue his journey to find his place in the world. He grew up as an orphan and went through many foster homes, and was abused and abandoned by his parents. He now lives in a more underprivileged neighborhood in Boston called Southie. Throughout the film Will reveals many signs about his personality that allow viewers to evaluate him and relate his personality to many studies and theories in psychology.
