All around the world there are dress codes everywhere. From work to school, the mall and museums. The purpose of dress codes are to keep the workplace professional and friendly. In some places because of religious beliefs, you can only go to certain areas if all of the skin on your body is covered up. Dress codes are there for a reason and have a very good purpose. It would be awfully weird to see your teacher in a bathing suit wouldn’t it be? Dress codes help keep the environment you are in comfortable and professional. Schools have a big issue with dress codes, and it seems to be pointed directly towards females in a lot of cases. Most of these clothes are capable of getting dress coded in schools all across the world. The real question is why? Why would a school ban clothing that young girls are introduced to everywhere, from television screens and magazines to the store where they buy their very own clothes. The answer is that some of these clothes are “distracting and hard for the other kids to pay attention”. Well its the other kids fault for starring at someone else other than the teacher. Students should understand self respect, and to respect others around you. A girl is not a toy. If they want to wear a tank top in the summer why not? The boys do it, everyone is equal so why do the girls get punished? The males get distracted and the victim wearing the “distracting piece of clothing” gets in trouble for something someone else should have been taught respect and manners! All girls want to do is feel good about themselves, they might feel pretty one day after being sad and depressed about themselves for a really long time, but then they get told to change.
