Adlerian, rational emotive behavior, and reality therapy assessments that can help guide the therapist in meeting the client’s needs. In Adlerian, therapy assessments are done through building a relationship with the client while making observations. Therapist can use several forms of assessments that include informal assessment, projective techniques, lifestyle questionnaires, standardized or detailed interview to collect information in regards to lifestyle through protocols and questionnaires about family dynamics and constellations, early recollections, dreams, basic mistakes, and assets. Adlerian therapy and reality therapy have many of the same philosophical views such as seeing clients as capable of changing their life, the client being responsible for their choices, leading to the belief that all behavior is purposeful (Petersen, 2005, p. 11-12). Rational emotive behavioral therapy was influenced my Adler’s “believe that an individual 's emotional reactions are correlated with one’s basic ideas and beliefs and are therefore cognitively created” (Al-Garni, n.d.). By using these three, therapy models, the therapist can develop an understanding of the client and be able to treat them. In using Lazarus’ BASIC I.D. model these therapies can outline and determine the undesirable habits and behaviors of the client, have an effect on multiple emotional disorders, change negative sensations, use imagery such as dreams and pictures, cognitive skills to change behavior patterns, interpersonal relationships which interact with society, families, and friends, drug and biology can be changed with these methods. Incorporating different pieces of each theory a therapist can assess each client by using a method that will collect information from the client effectively and efficiently, determine which personality concept relates to them and their needs, and set goals based on the assessments and personality concepts that are integrated to build a unique therapy for each
