In order to pursue a career in fundraising, it is optimal to have an education background in programs such as business, marketing, communications, or event management. A bachelor’s degree is typically required. In addition to these courses, “industry-related training through a professional association” is highly recommended (Maggie). A course in economics is useful as fundraisers must deal with planning budgets and meeting fund goals (Fundraiser). From 2014-2024, fundraiser employment is expected to grow about 9% which is faster than average. Job opportunities will continue to open up as non-profit organizations wish to increase their online presence by using social media.
