Dear Sakiko and Edmundo,
After reviewing both of your letters, I can definitely see that you guys do not get along. You both gave me your opinions of each other and I can see that you both have different views of each other. Hopefully, as your Editor in Chief, I can resolve your differences. Even though the two of you may not be on the same page, you really need to try and give each other respect. Although you guys aren’t friends, you are coworkers and you both see each other eight hours a day, five days a week. Once you show some respect, the lines of communication will open and disagreements will be reduced.
Don't run away and hide from the problems. Confront it head on. You will never solve anything if you don't speak. Now is not the time to be selfish; don't just think of yourself. As your Editor in Chief, I think we should pick a quiet, neutral location such as the company boardroom to sit down and discuss these problems.
I will personally make sure that the both of you have an understanding of what the other is feeling at the end of the meeting. First, we will try to find out what exactly makes you both upset, angry or hurt. I think there may be more to the story than meets the eye. I want to get all of the issues out on the table, that way we can try and solve it.
When one of you tells your side of the story, I want the other to listen carefully to what your partner is saying and don't jump to conclusions or try to argue his or her point. I want both of you to speak your mind before you dispute it (in a calm manner). Try to step back for a moment. Put yourself in each other’s shoes. How would you feel if you were in his/her position? When you do this, his/her perspective may not seem so farfetched.
Finally, come to a truce.

Try to discover the root of the problem. See why they are acting this way. 9/10 times it could be an issue that has been caused by a misunderstanding. In several occasions, conflict occurs in the communication of one or two people. Several people have thought of conflict as cases involving pouring of furious anger in a communication process. Nonetheless, conflict is the misinterpretation of an individual’s words or values (Huan & YAzdanifard, 2012). Conflict can also be due to limited resources in an organization (Riaz & Junaid, 2010). Conflict may as well arise due to poor communication or the use of inappropriate communication channel of transmission of information between the involved parties. Management of conflict has various conflict management styles that include avoidance style, forcing style, passive-aggressive style, accommodating style, collaborating style and compromising style. Workplace conflict comes in two different kinds: task involving conflict, which focuses on the approaches used in resolving the problem and blaming conflict that has the aspects of blame and never brings element of resolving problems between the conflicting parties. In the perception of several individuals, relationship conflict is negative.
In this assignment, I will be discussing an interpersonal conflict between me, and my best friend Celine, due to lack of time for each other. The goal of this paper is to present possible conflict resolutions and carry out a strategy to resolve the conflict. I will discuss multiple strategies, as possible options to resolve the conflict, including escapist, challenging, and cooperation. I will be using the text, Communication and You: an introduction by O'Hair, and Wiemann to use for information about the triggers, factors in the conflict, strategies, and the type of outcomes that occurs like Win-Win and Loose-Loose.
Keep in mind that conflict can be a good thing by providing a time of reflection for what is truly the best decision. If using professional communication techniques, a compromise can be made.

As mentioned in Part 1, I would recommend seeking to incorporate different possible course of actions as a way to expand the pie. This will not only help to satisfy the parties involved, but it will maintain the relations, create value, and build trust. Consequently, stepping away from a tough negotiation style can equally be beneficial to meeting these ends, especially if some concession is made by both parties. Recognizing the difference between conflict that is constructive to the team and conflict that is destructive to the team is important. Trying to prevent the conflict is not always the best way to manage conflict when working within a team setting. Understanding conflict, what causes it, and how to resolve conflict effectively, should consume full concentration.
Office politics can have advantages that may motivate certain employees and cliques. It can be very productive, as they usually know each other well and can utilize each person’s talent in a team setting. How a supervisor or manger deals with office politics can ultimately lead to his or her success or demise. It can also be the most unproductive and destructive problem in the workplace; which can derail the best laid business plans. I struggle with this because I push it off not hoping it will reside but because I feel like it is something I will get over and move on with.
