Internet Censorship
Many people think that the internet censorship it the best way to keep children or adolescents away from dangerous sites on the internet. Most people use this censorship because it helps their children keep safe from any predators on the internet. More of these sites have this kind of censorship because of any harassment online to any adolescents or children.
Cyber Bulling
Cyber Bulling has become a big impact among adolescents. Adolescents have an excessive amount of time on the internet, so that’s more time for a teen to get bullied or harassed on the internet. ( Cavendish) states, “Adolescents are not supervised by their parents or guardians so that gives them the advantage to harass other students while there on the internet”. A cyber bully may be anonymous because they don’t want the victim to find out who is harassing them. They may also solicit involvement of other people online so the victim can react to them as if they were someone they knew. ( Cavendish) informs,” adolescents may harass other students because the suspect may had a rough child hood or they do this because they do this kind of activity so they can make themselves feel more powerful when they harass someone”. Adolescents need this kind of supervision on thier computers so parents and guardians have access to what their child is doing online.
Cyber Bulling Vs Cyber Stalking
The practice of cyber bulling is not limited to children. Adults behavior is identified by the same definition; which an adult will use the same name for every person they bully. (Timothy) states,” adults as well take an adolescents user name and use it as their own name to try to attract people to their user”. This is an kind of act where the adolescents as well...

... helps adolescents keep safe from dangerous websites. (Thomas) states, “ High schools don’t worry about safety on the internet because it does not concern them or they are not involve with it. These people cannot be lazy or not be involve because there child can be the one being harassed.
Furthermore, society needs to have this censorship because it will help keep adolescents away from danger on the internet. Censorship can help you know if this website is dangerous to go on or if its only for adults only. People don’t understand how much this will help protect the children that are on the internet every day. It restricts any information from anyone so no one can find out where someone lives, social security number or any information about them. Internet is the best way to help keep Adolescents, adults and children safe form any harm that is done on the internet.
The type of content usually censored is sexual or violent things but Ballaro states, “Some bans (and the filtering software used to enforce them) eliminated access not only to pornographic materials but also to legitimate health and medical information” (Ballaro 1). If someone were to become sick, looking up symptoms on the internet is not the most efficient way to go about finding out what sickness they have, or what kind of treatments there are. Going to a professional would ensure that they get the correct diagnosis and treatment. Everything on the internet can be changed and not knowing the accuracy of a source is going to make the search more or less accurate. Children are also a big part of why things are censored. In the same passage, it is explained,“Opponents of Internet Censorship argue that education, not censorship, represents the best means of protecting children…” (Ballaro 1). Telling someone not to do something will just make them want to do it more. Educating kids on the dangers of the internet will not stop them from going on the internet. Protection children from all scammers and hackers, not just to mention explicit material, would also be challenging considering the internet is changing rapidly each day. Why not just block websites that are bad so even if children are tempted, they can not go to
... good and safe concise decisions. Censoring laws on the internet now are important to protect kids most; and all others at risk. We need more laws enacted against exploitation and privacy against potential harm while using the internet. We are supposed to protect the weak. Therefore as a whole we can prosper in future generations hand in hand with our technological advancements.
Many reasons exist for people to favor censorship, both by the government and in schools. These people may feel that internet filters and rating systems insufficiently block obscene material. Some people believe that children exposed to inappropriate material will become promiscuous or will become desensitized by violence on television. Although censorship may be necessary in protecting national security, there is no evidence to support that it protects children, and therefore censorship should be abolished, as it lessens the freedoms of everyone and diminishes a democratic system.
The act of bullying has been present in children’s life throughout time. It has been seen in movies, books, and even real life situations. In recent years there has been in increase in the use of technology and the Internet. As a result a new type of bullying has been introduced to today’s generation of teenagers. This new type of bullying is known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has a negative impact on the lives of the teenagers that experience it.
Another reason for not censoring the internet is the psychological effects that it can have on a child. The filtering of the internet can tell a child that adults do not trust them to surf the net on their own. This can lead them to believe that they can not make their own decisions, and that a computer determines what right and wr...
Track back to 15 to 25 years ago. An unfortunate student would normally get bullied at school with physical acts of violence, but as soon as that student arrives at his home he or she is presumed safe. Cyber bullying does not allow this luxury. Cyber bullying occurs over the information waves of the internet, with sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google plus. Which is why the guidelines must be improved or that children should not be allowed to access such sites entirely. With a the tools of direct messaging and posting videos cyber bullying can follow children to their home, beyond the school playground, seven days a week 24 hours a day. These acts of emotional trauma occur on a child’s computer and smartphone. For this reason it is more difficult to monitor...
The use of censorship by one side to gain power over another is apparent throughout history. The development of technology has posed several issues for both parties, both making censorship more and less difficult to enforce. This is especially prevalent in today’s society, where the internet has ensnared the current younger generations with its social networking and online entertainment industries. Even further detrimental to this modernized culture is how this freedom has prevented anyone from efficiently limiting connections to these such sites. The place where internet censorship is most commonly present is in schools, where it raises many issues and questions about the effectiveness of installing the filters. Rather than censor the internet, we should educate its users and take steps to make it more open.
Censorship is Necessary to Protect Children from the Internet Do you want our future generations being exposed to violence, hate, sexuality, illegal substances, and false information, and then one day think it would be cool or alright to try these things? The internet is filled with dangerous information, that children should never have the freedom to access. Children learn from example, and if they search, watch, or read something on the web that could be potentially dangerous, they could be influenced or curious and think that it would be alright to imitate one day. If our children now are viewing these things, it could mean that future generations could grow to be more violent and our world could become more dangerous than it already is today. Censorship is necessary if we plan on having our kids grow up in the safest environment possible.
The definition of bullying states that an individual is bullied if he/she is repeatedly and intentionally exposed, over a long period of time by one or more individuals, to negative acts in a situation where a power imbalance exists (Dehue, Bolman, Vollink, & Pouwelse, 2012). Cyberbullying is defined as long-term aggressive, intentional, repetitive acts by one or more individuals, using electronic means, against an almost powerless victim. Although bullying and cyberbullying are almost identical in definition, cyberbullying has one major difference. The major difference is cyberbullies can hind behind technology and may even be unidentifiable by the victim. Forth more, cyberbullying can easily be viewed by a large audience and once a statement, photo, or videos are placed online it can never be undone. Stopping cyberbullying can be difficult because a cyberbully can use a fake name or pretend to be someone else. As research on cyberbullying is still in an early stage, differences in cyberbullying are less consistent across studies. Research has not determined whether males or females are more like to cyberbully. With regard to grade level, some studies have found cyberbullying peaks during middle school, while others have either found a higher prevalence among high school students or no grade difference (Morgan, 2013). As cyberbullying relies on telecommunications, studies have shown a positive correlation between the amount of internet use and the involvement in cyberbullying, as a bully, victim, or both. Evidence also shows parents may have indirect influence on cyberbullying through monitoring their children's internet use. New literature has indicated that experience with cyberbullying is connected with detrimental psychosocia...
Internet is a powerful tool that allows users to collaborate and interact with others all over the world conveniently and relatively safely. It has allowed education and trade to be accessed easily and quickly, but all these benefits do not come without very taxing costs. This is especially true when dealing with the likes of the Internet. Countries in the European Union and Asia have realized this and have taken action against the threat of net neutrality to protect their citizens, even at the cost of online privacy. Internet censorship is required to protect us from our opinions and vices. Every country should adopt Internet censorship and regulation since it improves society by reducing pornography, racism/prejudice, and online identity theft.
Adults and teenagers use the internet to help find resolutions to social, physical, or mental problems; these sites also would contain causes and scenarios to help the individual determine if that is the type of problem they are dealing with, and then it will help lead them to a solution. If the government were to begin internet regulation, it could possibly block these kinds of sites from adults and teenagers because it could cause a disturbance to a child. The government and parents always want to keep children safe, and child protection is very important, but in the case of internet regulation, it is the parent’s duty to protect their child from potentially harmful
Due to how accessible the internet is to everyone, some say the internet should be censored for everyone to keep them in a safe environment. 88 percent of Americans use the internet and many of which are minors (Aaron Smith). Even though some might run into bad materials, everything on the internet can be found in real life.
Every child from teenagers and teenagers from adult uses internet like Wikipedia, YouTube and various type of social media among many other sites in everyday life in most of the countries. The internet is open to everyone except parental control. The Internet, global network is being the important part of our life these days. Just imagine that you heard the notification sound in your phone and run to the phone to check your message or important email. You are expecting an email or message from your dream University, where you are trying and trying to get enroll in and they are the one who is sending you some important information on your admission and on your acceptant, but when you check your inbox there is a message from the server instead. Which says the message cannot open or Error because it contained some indecent material and this page is not available. Does this sound silly or ridiculous to you? It is the reality and this is the very similar situation in china. As you can see, the problem with the internet censorship is that it takes away your rights, freedom of speech and the chance of gaining useful information.
“Unless and until our society recognizes cyberbullying for what it is, the suffering of thousands of silent victims will continue”─ Anna Maria Chavez (n.d). The rapid progression of technology has turned into fundamental part of the everyday lives of individuals globally. Although this phenomenon offers life change general society wish, it has serious drawbacks that rapidly increased cyberbullying among teenagers. Strom and Strom (2005) define cyberbullying as an act of threatening or harming others via technological devices such as emails, mobile phone messages, online voting booths, and social networking sites. The cyber bully typically covers up "behind the mask of anonymity" (Schneier cited in Strom & Strom, 2005, p.22) through nonexistent screen names, display pictures, and fake email address which spare them from sentiments of regret and sympathy. This paper aims to argue that although the booming of the digital stage of the 21st century offers many benefits among teenagers, it requires effective methodologies to promote security against the growing threat of cyberbullying.
Using the internet can give you many advantages however, there are people out there that are hackers and have a perverted approach to the internet. The ‘Child Development Institute’ had some things that needed to be said for the safety of the children on the internet; “A child should never know more than a parent does about the internet. At the very least, you should know about the same. If you are looking to block adult websites or websites that have offensive language, it will not do you any good if your teenager knows ways to get around the parental controls that you set.” This quote has a good point for teens however they are wrong. This quote is from the Child Development Center on how they feel about it however people haven’t looked at the good side of it. Children can be out of control anytime however it is the parent's responsibility to give them consequences so they don’t do it
