[The role of an engineer]

Introduction…

In this project, I would like to explain our society and community wants that an engineer should follow the rule and Law in strict way. There are two key points as like, negligence and respect. Two example cases show how the disaster and nasty accident happen without any control in the negligent and respectful ways. For more detail story, there are two articles describing the role of engineers. The one story is about the accidents of trench, “Trench Failure”. This case shows how much engineers’ professional responsibility is important. This is regarding engineer’s legal liability vs. social responsibility. The second case is regarding the respect for nature by engineering. This is the case of ‘Aberdeen Three’ and the story is about the crime of the environmental pollution. But, this story is also regarding the role, which is related with engineer’s legal liability and social responsibility too, as an engineer in modern life and society.

Body Paragraphs:

The both stories show how to neglect human and society. Two cases teach us how much ethical problem is important for engineers and professionals. In the “Trench Failure” case, the real sad story told us how much engineer’s the ethics problem is important. By the information from the site1), trench is one of the oldest types of construction works and it means how long human used this way in the work. However, many construction companies and engineers did not show how much they are doing ethically until a recent date. By the site1), many construction companies are willing to spare the expense for trench boxes. It means those do not want to spend their money for the safety. ... to their acts and knowledge. However, they did not anything to protect their subordinates and coworkers from contacts hazardous materials. They did not train their subordinates how to handle dangerous materials. It shows they did not respect for society and nature.

Solutions:

The law or rules make our society being safety and well. However, this kind of system follows behind real terrible situations happened some times. Before passing the law by a legislative organization or being plans by government, our society asks professionals and engineers doing in justice and right way. For this reason, they have to be respectful for human and not being negligent for their duty. As an engineer, workplace ethics should be common code of conduct. This brings our society to ethical culture and this mode makes us choose the right things to do in easy way.
