The time arrives but once a year --
Chirstmas-time holiday with varying cheer.
But buying and selling and buming and parking
Spur movie mischievers in need of a larking.
There's snowflakes fallen and gently sprinkled,
With all the little Whosters' smiles frozen wrinkled.
Sleeping and shopping for five minutes or less,
Stopping a moment to see the Grinch and how he stole Christmas.
This dastardly deed won't make Zanzibelt wail,
This is a gift that won't fly through the mail.
For you'd be called names like suffering maroon,
If you miss this fable-ous live-action cartoon.
Maniacal, magnificent, magical and merry --
Driven through the snow by the one Jim Carrey.
Soaring through sets bent by fantastical fancy,
He's over the top, past the tip-top of Mount Clancey.
The tiniest of heart's tale is whispered and told,
But the green-haired shoulders break every mold.
There once was a boy by the name of the Grinch,
Rankled and ruptured! Punctured and pinched!
So his feet did move with speed and precision,
Finding a home made of garbage...his decision.
"Those people of Whoville and that infernal time of year,"
Said the man who ate glass with wallowful jeers.
But Whos are filled with spirits that sing,
(A little off-tune, but to good intentions cling).
The hoopla and crazitude centered on a girl,
Named Cindy Lou Who, Taylor Momsen gave it a whirl.
She questions each corner and scours for the answer,
To why Christmas can make even the lazy pure dancers.
Based on a book and cartoon by Doc Seuss,
A bomb could have blown about the oddball recluse.
But fantabulous sets and Cindy Lou's sparkle,
Tag-team with Carrey's ability to spew the word "farkle".
The wonderment remains, so watch, watch, watch --
Or you'll be laughed at like a boy named little Mike Rotch.
The Doc's main points stick like hair to glue,
It's not too dark, so other critics: Boo hoo!
You need to say why such a creature would steal,
This case examines the multiple duties that the President and CEO of Midvale Community Hospital, Terry Blaze, participated in throughout the day to ensure that the hospital is running effectively. Throughout the day, Blaze attends numerous meetings, which are directed towards improvements, changes, or concerns that will overall affect the hospital. During several of them, he is required to make final decisions however, he often directs other personnel to make that final judgment call. It was evident that Blaze wore many hats as the President and CEO of the hospital, which made it evident that his time was stretched thin. This could result in tasks going unfinished or completed incorrectly. Some mistakes that may be made may have a major negative impact on the hospital therefore it is pertinent for Blaze to ensure that he is using his time wisely.
In this film, the main character has portrayed the center of deviant behavior. The phrase deviant many be seen as something negative, however, sociologist say that it is the way we negatively judge the subject. To further elaborate sociologist can agree that all of us from time to time have violated some sort of norm in one way or another. It is even so that a person can just look a different way and be referred to as deviant. This goes to show the main character, the Grinch, as he is looked upon to be a monster due to his physical features. There are two other characters that seem to have an effect on the Grinch’s behavior that would be Max, his dog, and Cindy Lou.
On a tiny snowflake floating through the air, exists the town of Who-ville, home of the Whos. The town is joyously preparing for the coming of Christmas. The opening scene is full of noise and excitement with the townspeople hustling and bustling about shopping for gifts. Cheerful Christmas music plays in the background while the countdown until Christmas Day is announced over the town’s loudspeaker. Bright colors combined with unusual hairstyles are seen on the people of Who-ville. The town itself is covered with a multitude of lights, decorated trees, and wreaths.
Lincoln, was rooted in Christian belief but not outwardly stated. Although Christian belief was the center of the company’s initial philosophy it has not been mentioned in any of the recent chairman’s speeches, currently there is not a display of religious beliefs. At Lincoln Electric the need of the customers is the reason for being and the drive behind all the actions of its employees. James Lincoln’s philosophy puts the customer as the most important part of the company followed by its employees and lastly its stakeholders. It this clear vision that has powered the success of the company and has maintained it as a major player its field.
The Grinch is an individual, who is bitter and lives in a cave on the snowy Mount Crumpits, which is 10,000 feet tall and north of Whoville town. The Grinch age is unknown, however looks to be about in his mid-40s and is unemployed. Thus, results in him spending a lot of time alone in his cave with his dog, Max, as his social companion. At any rate, the Grinch faced many issues when he was younger, causing his current behavior, where he was abandoned as a child, and made fun of because of his look and horrendous appearance at school and as a way to cope he decided to run away. The Grinch behavior shows signs of depression, aggression, and irritation though out a large sum of the movie. In that case, the kid that use to make fun of
In my opinion Lincoln Electric Company is successful because of many factors; there is a general, clear knowledge and understanding of mutual respect and cooperation among all the people working at Lincoln at all levels.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966&2000) explains not only the life of the Grinch but the Whos as well. Through the theorists of Karen Horney and Erik Erikson, viewers can learn why the Grinch’s personality is formed. Not only had it formed, but through the years it transformed.
In Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas the main theme, of the conflicting opinions about Christmas, is understood when understanding the emotions of the grinch. At such a joyful and merry time, how is one soul not feeling the love without a solid emotional excuse? It is clear that at some point the grinch suffered through a memory that may be directly or indirectly related to Christmas. While the grinch is much different than all the whos in whoville, he must have felt lonely during a time when everyone else is feeling welcomed. This has resulted in the grinch not believing in the ‘joys’ of Christmas, as he never experienced them himself. The grinch, being isolated and far from everyone else, views Christmas as only being of gift exchanges
The Lincoln Electric Company corporate culture today is an extension of that which the founder John C. Lincoln and his younger brother James F. Lincoln instituted over a century ago. The company today remains a profitable, growing and admired organization. Its culture has been analyzed and utilized as an example in business education for many years. The success of the company can be attributed to: the efficiency their corporate philosophy and culture has instilled in their employees; meeting the needs of the customers; and lastly rewarding the shareholders. The gist of their corporate mindset is summed up by the past President, Mr. Willis “Lincoln Electric differs from most other companies in the importance it assigns to each of the groups it serves. (He) identifies these groups, in the order of priority as (1) customers, (2) employees, and (3) stockholders”(Sharplin, Arthur, 1989) According to Carpenter, Taylor, and Erdogan (2009), “When entrepreneurs establish their own businesses, the way they want to do business determines the organization’s rules, the structure set up in the company, and the people they hire to work with them.” James F. Lincoln was strongly influenced by religious teachings which he incorporated into his business ethics. According to Lincoln:
In conclusion, learning English was a challenge when it was first introduced to me, but now I have overcome that challenge. I am able to defend myself in the outside public world of English with no shame at all. I now understand how fortunate I am to know another language different from my own. For me, it is important to still have my first language because it is a way to retain the Mexican culture. It is just the way I was raised to believe.
Lincoln Electric, Inc. follows a decentralized approach to management. At foremost a decentralized approach to management according to Daft, “culture, values, traditions, shared beliefs, and trust are used to foster organizational goals” (Daft, 2012, pg.553). This approach emphases a unifying goal which is shared and is worked upon in a unifying effort for success by every member of the organization. Decentralization control management prides itself in workers autonomy and high performance work systems in respect to performance standard. Workers autonomy from the perspective of managers may be defined as, “interpersonal styles where managers take the perspectives of subordinates into account, present reasons for the decisions taken, behaviors requested, and originate opportunities for choice and self-initiation” (Baard, Deci, & Ryan, 2004, pg. 651). Thus, workers are able to utilize their skill as it pertains to specialization with little monitoring; however, this type of freedom is not counterproductive toward organizational goals, but more so geared toward high performance work. High performance work system can be considered as, “systems of human resource practices designed to enhance employees skill, commitment, and productivity in ways that employees become a source of competitive advantage” (Datta, Guthrie, & Wright, 2005, p. 135).
For me adapting a new language was tough because where I came from we don’t verbalize English. So, before we move to the United States I had to get that primary knowledge of English in a short duration. At that time I consummated my one semester of 9 the grade. My parents thought of dropping me out school, so I can just focus on English. Since then my main focus was to learn English. I think that was the hardest thing I have done in my life. Day by day I was learning incipient thing, but I wasn’t quit understanding the language.
The well known holiday of Christmas today is far from what it was in it’s former being. Many aspects led to the change in Christmas, however Charles Dickens, a Victorian era author was arguably the most influential in the change. There was a time when christmas was not much more important than your average holiday. Without the work of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Regency Christmas would not have changed to be the way it is today. As we examine the Regency Christmas, the Christmas events in A Christmas Carol, new Christmas ideas, and today’s new christmas we will form the true Christmas.
The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.
My father love books, he can’t stand technologies; and he’s very shy to stranger. That is why book is the only way get through him, if we put him in a roomful of people, he will run away. But for me, sitting there reading a book is the worst idea for me. I like making new friends, making conversations and small talks are my strong suit. So for me, going to class or making friends are the best way for me to learn new language, and I believe it’s a two-way advantages, I can learn my friend’s native language, while they can learn
