I believe that studying is not limited to gaining knowledge from textbooks, especially in hospitality industry. Therefore, I try to learn new things and develop skills out of textbooks.
Working in positions like front desk and customer service is always my dream and seeking employment as a manager in service department of a resort hotel is always my goal. Resort is differing from hotel. Actually, resorts are mainly provided relaxation and recreation over and above the accommodation, which is the reason why I love resort more than hotels. As we know, customer service representatives are the bridges between the company and the customers. They need to directly contact with the clients on daily basis. Instead of repeating peeling garlic in the kitchen, I prefer answering questions and solving customer’s complaints more.
I think I am a quick learner and smart worker. I can easily cope up with the changes within the environment and adjust myself in any work environment. Studying in Switzerland is a great example. Moving out from my own country and fitting in a completely new environment is definitely not a difficulty for me. As a well self-control person, planning work schedule to increase work efficiency and practicing to master new skills quickly are my habits. Besides, the area I should improve will be my language skills which are my spoken English and my elementary French.
As I am having an internship in Food and beverage department in the future, some competencies and skills are required for my coming internship. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are needed as I will be having direct contact with customers or colleagues. Not only in person, but also involve communication via email, phone or regular mail....

...et some short term goals for myself to achieve. “Practice makes perfect” In order to improve my spoken English, I will try to communicate with my colleague and my customers more. As my internship is in England, it will be a great opportunity for me. For my elementary French, I will practice my French though moodle by doing quiz and exercise. Of course I will memories and review the vocabulary I have learnt during my internship. All of them have to be finish before I start the semester of my second year.
Becoming a Professional is always my dream. I hope that in one day I can have an opportunity to work as a manager in a resort. Looking back and reflecting the changes I have had, my school life helps preparing myself for the challenge that I have to face in my way to success. I believe what I have learnt in school will serve as a stepping stone for future success.
Both 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale are dystopian novels, however, these books are a lot more complex than mere portrayals of dystopia, it can be argued that they are explorations of dystopia rather than mere portrayals. In order to explore dystopia, many themes must be considered, such as; feminism, love and repression. Nonetheless, it is apparent that human characteristics are the driving point of the two novels, predominantly, the depiction of human resilience. In an imperfect world, it is important to have certain qualities which, if plentiful, it can mean success, whereas if it lacks, it can mean failure, this characteristic is resilience. The protagonists in each novel, Winston in 1984 and Offred in The Handmaid’s Tale face situations which leave them both in disarray, and both even consider suicide. The authors tentatively highlight human resilience, its limits and most importantly its strengths into the two novels.
The Hunger Games was a critically acclaimed movie when it came out; however, some critics would argue that the movie can be sometimes too violent for its intended audience. In this essay I would dissert Brian Bethune’s essay “Dystopia Now” in order to find its weaknesses and compare the movie Battle Royale with his essay.
Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
Distinctively visual language and cinematic techniques highlight to the responder the particular literal and metaphorical experiences characters are faced with, within a text. Peter Goldsworthy’s novel Maestro, Don McLean’s song ‘Vincent’ and the intriguing film Australia by Baz Luhrrman, explore the ways in which the human experiences of an individual’s connection to landscape is fundamental in shaping one’s sense of identity, personal growth and development. Composers further explore the realisation that our lives can be enriched by an understanding and appreciation of art as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of love and lust. The depiction of characters is conveyed through distinctively visual images to highlight the subsequent development of courage and resilience leads responders to a deeper understanding of how human experiences can create a sense of individuality.
Expanded and strengthened state private insurance companies are to be expected since more younger Texans enter the market thanks to the premium support. Texas can expect savings through more proper use of medical care, lower numbers in Medicaid, and savings from increased recipient cost sharing. Texas must refuse to comply with the new high-risk pools. There are many reasons Texas should not comply but the main reason is poor design. Currently, eighteen states have decided not to participate in these pools, Texas is undecided. Any person with a pre-existing medical disorder whom has been without insurance for six month will qualify. The law gave the Department of Health discretion in determining with conditions qualifies. Theoretically, the Department of Health could say the flu is a pre existing medical condition. If Texas does not refuse to comply with these pools it is only a matter of time before the demand will exceed the supply. A huge concern is when the funding is gone what do the state politicians do. I see two options. One, state officials will end the coverage all together and pull the plug. Two, continue to allow the program to run with the use of state tax dollars.
Textbooks are essential and informative, however it is not the main core value of education. If we truly depend on textbook, our world would be as naïve as natives in colonization era. Schopenhauer provides the difference between reading and thinking. “Reading forcibly imposes on the mind thoughts that are as foreign to its mood and direction” (Schopenhauer, pg. 89) Reading is an escape of reality. It penetrates the mind and alters thinking. “The mind is totally subjected to an external compulsion” (Schopenhauer, pg.89) although reading is prominent, it can impair personal thinking. “That the surest way of never having any thoughts of your own is to pickup a book every time you have a free moment.” (Schopenhauer, pg. 90) When it comes to reading college content, it has no originality. We are attaining our foreign thinking from a text that has been modified thus teach one purpose only and that is to provide facts. We cannot attain wisdom from textbooks. Universities provide textbooks that are a copy of another copy; that is to say, the information is the production of somebodies else’s idea following by, another mans ideas and so on. “All that has ever been taught is a critique of a words and fifty critiques of them as preserved side-by-side and intermingled” (Nietzsche, pg. 187) What can we obtain from a mixtures of words? Well criteria met. It is possible to have our own thoughts and ideas; if we only foreshadow on textbook we will become a textbook itself. “People who pass their lives in reading and acquire their wisdom from books are like those who learn about a country from travel description” (Schopenhauer, pg. 91) we have to obtain our wisdom from our own thoughts and not from what is editing in from of
Democratic is when citizens vote for all elected officials. Many had defied political system as it was, and thrived towards to create a democratic system that will be beneficial for America as a whole. Andrew Jackson was one of those individuals who challenged the government’s views, and whose name is tied closely to democracy. This essay will focus on the aspects that made this president so great and how democratic was he in actual fact.
During the Great Depression, while the competitors were cutting costs and reusing outdated designs, Kress was expanding and building more elaborate stores than their previous ones. The architecture was referred to as an “emporium” evoking an elegant atmosphere more suited to a fine cloth or furniture store in New York rather than the five & dime stores dotting small town America. Many wonder what the driving force was behind these design decisions, especially during a national time of economic recession. Perhaps simply to outpace the competition, but perhaps more importantly Samuel Kress was an avid art collector and a proponent of public art enhancing a community. In this way the Kress legacy of the brand became more than a retail business, it became a symbol of small town civic pride.
Our role as nursing leaders is to place a high priority on our commitment to educating ourselves, while improving the lives of patients through collaborative and transformational nursing leadership. I have chosen to pursue the Doctorate of Nursing Practice to transform and revolutionize best practice outcomes. While exploring program types, I considered the PhD, however this degree placed an emphasis on academics and research. My final decision was centered on how to affect change in nursing practice at the bedside. The decision to apply to Yale was based on the time-tested, world-class faculty and scholars available to the DNP student. Yale is a leader in higher education and I am seeking the very best.
Our belief states are determined by the external factors, for example, perceived complexity and priming ethics is an interesting subject and everyone lives by their thoughts and their ways. Everyone lives by a different code. The difference between morality and ethics is that morality is about primary making the right choices and ethics is proper reasoning. In the essay “The ethics of belief” by W. K. Clifford, he argues that if anything on insufficient evidence, then it’s unethical. In this essay I will remain undecided with what Clifford is trying to say. I agree and disagree with some of his viewpoints. Some I do have to say are unethical and some are reasonable. What Clifford is trying to portray is interesting. Especially since he comes from a religious background. And reading about his new discovery, is quite interesting.
Parenting may be said as an experiment, because every parent has different views and ways of raising their own children. Parents raise their child in such ways in which they believe is beneficial and healthy for the child. A story that came across media news about a baby, Storm, being raised as “genderless” fueled a controversy in defiance of gender stereotyping. The Witterick family in Canada believed that by acknowledging this practice it would, “tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a standup to what the world could become in Storm’s lifetime” (Davis and James). However, in terms of raising a genderless child, this can cause the child to be unprepared to face the conventional norms or society. This practice may be causing the child a disservice.

Do not end up in situations that can be avoided. Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a novel set on a tropical island, explores the idea of mind control. In this story there are a group of schoolboys that get into a plane crash and are left without adults. As adolescents they decide who gets the power to be leader and out of them. Ralph is picked because of his appearance. Throughout the book a character Jack abuses his power and then because his influence on the others it leads to the death of two schoolboys. In Lord of the Flies Golding’s point is to demonstrate that people react to bad stimulus without realizing it,which results in an emotional breakdown.
