In the article “Addicted to Your Smartphone? Here's What to Do” Susan Davis presented different points that supported why the current society is addicted to the smartphones. “That study found that certain environmental triggers -- like being bored or listening to a lecture -- trigger the habits. And while the average user checks his or her smartphone 35 times a day -- for about 30 seconds each time, when the information rewards are greater (e.g., having contact info linked to the contact's whereabouts), users check even more often.” (Davis, p 2). Unfortunately people do not take conscious in the use of smartphones. I really like this article because it shows us the reality of mobile phone interactions in our day to day and how we can handle it. There are several important points that the author mentioned in the article. She explained how she explored different applications in that device during all day, even when making breakfast. Davis indicated different percentages that show us the daily use of the smartphones in different scenes in our life, for example, while in bed and in vacation. She also discussed if the smartphone use is either a hook or habit and how this can interfere in our lives. The author multicity defined hook by the act of the phone causing the addiction as opposed the user creating the habit. She determined three final points that can help you to handle the smartphone use. Unfortunately people do not take conscious in the use of smartphones. I really like this article because it shows us the reality of mobile phone interactions in our day to day and how we can handle it. The article suggests that the use of smartphone is a modern compulsion that is growing in the last years. It very important to be conscience when we raised our children and in contrast, it is terrible when sometimes I see parents play with their smartphones while they are with their children. Parents have lost the magical moments with their children in exchange for the touch a “smart” box. In conclusion, Davis founded that when she can put apart her smartphone she was concentrating better and she feel more aware of her surroundings and feel relaxed. Day after day, people are more addicted to the smartphone use. It is scary how the society immerses in smartphone dependency. I hope that we are more aware with our time and put away the magical device and encountered again with others and not convert the smartphones as our friends.
