Nettles and Catrin present parent-child relationships in different ways, possibly as a result of the authors’ personal experiences. The father in Nettles tries to protect his son from any pain and danger the world throws at him. In Catrin, there is too a parent-child relationship between the mother and daughter, but at times it seems strained and fraught with conflict.
There were many themes illustrated throughout the memoir, A Long Way Gone by Ishmael beah. These themes include survival/resilience despite great suffering, the loss of innocence, the importance of family/heritage, the power of hope and dreams, the effects of injustice on the individual, and the importance of social and political responsibility. Every theme listed has a great meaning, and the author puts them in there for the readers to analyze and take with them when they finish reading the book.

There are many themes in this book such as teamwork, humanity, there is a silver lining in every storm, and no matter how bad things are everything will turn out okay, and the other theme is it is hard to tell who is the antagonist and who is the protagonist in the book. However the three most important are those that were just mentioned which are Thomas, Teresa, and the organization known as WICKED. The reason that all of these themes are important is that they share something in common with one another. Such as humanity and teamwork humans are one of the few creatures on this world that will work together to accomplish something. The other two also share that no matter how hard things get there's always been a way out of it.The next four paragraphs are meant to show how each one of the themes no matter how different they are, they each hold a little in common with each other.

I liked this book very much the story it portrays is beautiful. I learned a lot, but the message that stuck out substantially was people change people. Like Jess had said before he met Leslie he was a fearful cowardice kid, but after Leslie came along he became a king. I recommend this book to everyone
In this book review I represent and analyze the three themes I found the most significant in the novel.
The strength and resilience of the female character, Nadia. The ethical and moral questions that arose from reading the book. How the book covered topics such as love, marriage and faith. I also appreciated the style the authors used to narrate the book because it let you into the minds of the characters. In as much I valued the insertions of Adele’s beautiful and deep lyrics into the book and whilst it did add to the characters mood at times I found it to be a bit much and thought that some readers might find it
