A character faces difficulties and challenges throughout their journey’s, the obstacles they come to accept make us show compassion and empathy towards them. Jane Higgins, the author of The Bridge, published in 2011, has written an outstanding novel. This novel is based on a dystopian world, facing continuous war, death and conflict. Both sides are fighting for the power of land but despite that, Nik and Fyffe are crossing the bridge to get to Southside and find Sol. Higgins has used language techniques to convey Journey’s as the main theme in her novel. Whilst on their mission to find Sol, Nik and Fyffe go through many journey’s in which they discover more about themselves and others.
