The system have classify cyclone Yasi to a Category 3 cyclone at about 5 p.m. AEST (07:00 UTC) on 31th January 2011. Late on 1st February the cyclone strengthened to a Category 4, and then early on 2rd February, the cyclone has further intensified to become a Category 5 cyclone. On the 3rd February 2011, Yasi has move to become a tropical low pressure near Fiji .
Flooding has become a common disaster across Queensland from the end of December 2010 to January 2011 with several separate rain events which causes rivers to rise over a lengthy periods. Many places such as Condamine and Chinchilla were cover by waters on multiple occasions. About 300 roads were closed, including nine major highways due to the flooding.
Food prices are set to rise after tropical cyclone Yasi cut a destructive path through Australia’s major bananas and sugar cane industry. With the category five cyclone Yasi hitting the major growing regions of Tully and Innisfail leaving behind the total of $350 million on the damage bill in banana crop about 75 per cent of the nation’s bananas supply has been affected. The Australian Banana Grower Council (ABGC) claims that 95 per cent of crops in those two areas were damaged, along with 80 per cent of crops in the Kennedy area, south of Cardwell. He also claims “The majority of Australia bananas are gown in tropical north Queensland, so that it is a fairly significant disaster for our industry.”(2)
The prices of food across Australia have gone up, not only sugar cane and the bananas. The floods have cost supermarket companies tens of millions of dollars. If a person is trying to maintain a healthy weight then eating plenty of fruit and vegetables especially eating bananas are going to help, as it there is no fat contain in bananas, so it is almost impossible to get fat from eating a banana.
