Uganda’s President Signs Antigay Bill
Summary
Last month Uganda’s president sign a law that opposed the gay relationships, such relations were to be punished by 14 years in prison. But if it’s a repeated offender it could spend the rest of his life in jail if it was a minor offender (this included relations with a minor, disable person or on of the partners has HIV).
This bill was first proposed in 2009 but the president, Yoweri Museveni had his doubts; mainly the lack of information about homosexuality President Museveni was seeking for scientific information that could backup the theory about the “homosexuality gene”. But also the pressure Western country had over the nation, and this is due to the fact that US and Canada are some of the countries that gives aid to the development of the country, and by signing this bill, the nation will be facing a lost the help from this countries.
Nevertheless, the theories were disproof and the conservative parties were worried about the increase of homosexual couples, the President observed that he couldn’t stall the bill any further and he had to make a decision. Last February 14th he signed the bill to approving the punishments against gay people and according to the experts opening the door for discrimination based on a person sexual orientation.
Opinion
Africa has been a continent that it’s in the process of fining their place in the world. It hasn’t develop as much as the rest of the world, this its connected to; their history, the fact that the continent was used as a place to obtain all type of natural resources and, sadly, slaves. But through time Uganda managed to evolve. Globalization has impact so many countries; there had been positive and negative outcomes related to the int...

...he idealistic idea of everyone looking for true love. But simple because the world has change, centuries ago the Greeks believe perfections was in a male body, that male was a perfect culture and relations between two man was acceptable. Then times changed and homosexuals were persecuted and force to hide. Now times are changing once again but at this moment the world is split between tolerance and discrimination. While African culture believes people should control their impulses and has a “normal” life Western culture believes in equality and acceptance of the things we cannot control nor change. I believe this law “anti-gay” Is not a solution to a problem, its just a legal way to accept discrimination against a subculture, about allowing people to be subject to bullying, violent acts against them and not being able to have the freedom of choosing their partners.
A true saying is “Colonization often does more damage than contribution.” Colonialism encouraged Africa’s development in some areas, but in many others it severely damaged the natural progress of the continent. If colonialism was never imposed on Africa, Africa’s developments would be significantly different and many of the problems that the continent faces now would not exist today. In conclusion, at first it seems that colonialism has both positive and negative effects, but the truth is it only damages the colonized nation.

Discrimination refers to the act of making a distinction or segregation that undermines equality. Typically used referring to the violation of equal rights by race, nationality, politic, gender, or sexual orientation which is the subject I will be explaining in this essay.

...e senseless and heartless government, which ruthlessly destroys the peaceful atmosphere in the villages. Africa will only reach its potential when everybody realizes the importance of preserving the cultural traditions.
Famous children’s author Dr. Seuss once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind". Gay rights, at the moment, are one of the most publicized and well known controversial subjects of this decade. The sides clearly drawn one fighting for rights as simple as being married the other stating that it defames their religion and goes against the definition of marriage, being between a man and a woman. The individuals who are fighting for their civil rights are fallowing the same path that African Americans and women have taken, but the change has started and in over 13 states gays have been given their basic rights and more state are joining in the fight both for and against the topic.
In the early 1880’s, the powers of Europe started to take control of regions in Africa and set up colonies there. In the beginning, colonization caused the Africans little harm, but before long, the Europeans started to take complete control of wherever they went. The Europeans used their advanced knowledge and technology to easily maneuver through the vast African landscape and used advanced weapons to take control of the African people and their land. The countries that claimed the most land and had the most significant effect on Africa were France, England, Belgium, and Germany. There were many reasons for the European countries to be competing against each other to gain colonies in Africa. One of the main reasons was that the Europeans believed that the more territory a country was able to control, the more powerful it could become and the more powerful it would be seen as by other countries. Other reasons for the desire to control African land included the many natural resources that could only be found in Africa, such as diamonds, gold, and as time progressed, rubber. It also provided new markets in surrounding places so that manufactured goods could be sold for a larger profit. The Europeans had many motives for imperialism in Africa. Yet the true motives were often shielded as they tried tom present themselves as humanitarians when in reality they were making Africa a terrible place to live with brutality and harsh treatment of the African natives. The ways of the Europeans had many physical and emotional costs for the people of Africa. The imperialism process also took a toll on the people of Europe. The European imperialistic colonization in Africa was motivated by the desire to control the abundant natural resources an...
This Act would provide protection from any anti-discrimination of LGBT, this includes employment, housing, credit, education, and jury services (Hrc.org). Due to this Act any member of the LGBT community is able to get a job, education, and housing and should not be restricted because of who they love. LGBT will be allowed the same protection as any other free citizen under the law. Congress also launched the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. Congress is strongly committed to making sure that all people who consider themselves as gay, Lesbian, or transgendered all around the world are protected (polish.house.gov). Lesbians, Gays, and transgendered are denied their right most American enjoy. So these Laws that are enforced gives them the freedom to do so. Having said that, many Ugandans would today accept that their country had at some stage to be brought into contact with the modern world, and even that they were comparatively lucky in being colonised by the British rather than by, for instance, the Belgians whose brutal rule in the Congo was far crueller than that of the British Protectorate in Uganda. Moreover, the fact that the arrival of the British in Uganda was not accompanied by the theft of African land for white farmers - as it was in Zimbabwe or Kenya - meant that some of the bitterness and resentment felt about European rule in some African countries was not a feature in Uganda. So race relations, even today, are more relaxed in Uganda than in many parts of the Continent.
How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney, was one of the most controversial books in the world at the time of its release. The book seeks to argue that European exploitation and involvement in Africa throughout history. This is the cause of current African underdevelopment, and the true path to the development is for Africa to completely sever her ties with the international capitalist economy. Rodney describes his goal in writing the book in the preface: “this book derives from a concern with the contemporary African situation. It delves into the past only because otherwise it would be impossible to understand how the present came into being and what the trends are for the near future” (vii). Rodney writes from a distinctly Marxist perspective by arguing that the inequalities inherent in European capitalism and required exploitation of certain countries in order to sustain capitalism.
There is no doubt that European colonialism has left a grave impact on Africa. Many of Africa’s current and recent issues can trace their roots back to the poor decisions made during the European colonial era. Some good has resulted however, like modern medicine, education, and infrastructure. Africa’s history and culture have also been transformed. It will take many years for the scars left by colonization to fade, but some things may never truly disappear. The fate of the continent may be unclear, but its past provides us with information on why the present is the way it is.

Over the last years the topic of same-sex marriage has been of great importance to our society. The idea of the same gender being lawfully married is disturbing to a group of people but in the recent years the number of supporters has increased. The cases that argue for the legalization of same-sex marriage are focusing on the relationship of the individuals and do not see anything in same-sex marriage that could harm our society as a whole. The article “How the President go to ‘I Do’ on Same-Sex Marriage,” published by Joe Becker in April 2014, explains how Barack Obama started saying that he was undecided about the subject matter but is now leaning toward the legalization of same-sex marriage. The subject matter takes a lot of analyzing of what pros and cons are to come from the legalization of same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage is a global argument that deals with unifying two individuals of the same gender under the law. The main reason that supporters give for justifying same-sex marriage is that it is for the same reason as straight people, to show love and commitment to each other. Furthermore, the argument of same-sex marriage is difficult to generalize because of the multiple factors that need to be taken in consideration when making any decision regarding this topic. Although Becker does have true premises, he lacks clarity in his terms which make his argument be false and invalid.
