Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman: An Advocate for Sexism
“A feminist is a person who believes in the power of women just as much as they believe in the power of anyone else. It’s equality, its fairness, and I think it’s a great thing to be a part of.” - Zendaya; This quote is a huge reminder for people that claim to be a feminist, recently women have been tearing each other down and only supporting women of certain races. In this quote, Zendaya states in her opinion that “a feminist is a person who believes in the power of women… it’s fairness.” this automatically shuts down the conflict of women discouraging females of other races.

growing up even though they were recently divorced.
Her father is the person who instilled Zendaya’s views and morals on gender inequality and standing up for herself. Her parents are Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and Claire Stoermer. Kazembe, Zendaya’s father, has ancestry that traces back to Nigeria and her mother was originated from Dutch and German ancestors. Coleman has a very colorful background, she grew up culturally and ethnically mixed. She gained her education from Oakland School for the Arts and the American Conservatory Theater. Zendaya actually ended up being homeschooled midway through high school as a result of her growing fame. Throughout her childhood, her mother would go to the American Conservatory Theater, and teach the kids there. Soon enough Zendaya began trailing behind her mother at the theater, wanting to be apart of the singing, dancing, and acting that took place. The theater fueled Zendaya’s passion for her career, her parents were her main supporters for her following her heart. Zendaya began her career as a model for department stores such as Macy’s, Mervyn’s, and Old Navy. She also was a performer for ‘Kidz Bop’, and a
backup dancer in a Sears commercial. 2009 was when Zendaya’s career kicked off, this year was when she auditioned for the role of CeCe Jones on Shake It Up, a Disney Channel show, but ended up with the role of Rocky Blue. Afterward, she began to produce music, expanding her skills. This resulted in her signing to the Hollywood Records label. In 2013, Zendaya was announced as one of the youngest celebrities to compete on Dancing with the Stars. The fact that Zendaya can sing, dance, act, and model, opened many doors for her in her career. This prompted Disney Channel to swoop her up quick and have her play leads in many original movies. Disney Channel also gave Zendaya her own TV show, originally called Super Awesome Katy. When Zendaya caught wind of the name, she immediately demanded that it be changed to K.C. Undercover, the family being black, and she should be a producer on the show. She also demanded that the main character isn’t a watered-down version of a spy because she was female, Zendaya did this all at sixteen years old. Where Zendaya is now, compared to where she was during her childhood, there is a gigantuan difference. Zendaya showed that you can still make it big even if you are povertized, or not perfect. Zendaya Coleman has changed the acting and modeling business drastically. First, she’s a great role-model to anyone, she supports gender-equality and helps out with charity and people getting bullied or “trolled” on social media. She is a huge advocate for bullying, gender-equality, and racism. Zendaya is a person that makes being that great look easy, she stays humble regardless of her success, and she encourages others to be as influential and successful as people portray her as; Zendaya shows you where pursuing what you are passionate about will get you.
Another fear erected from this novel is the power of seduction over feebleminded women. Evident in a passage from Zofloya, Victoria was swooned even by the sound of his voice, ‘Oh, Flattery, like heavenly dew upon the earth, gratefully dost thou descend upon the ear of woman! Indescribable pleasure dilated the bosom of Victoria, as she listened to the honied accents of the delicate Moor’ (Dacre 156). This villain had a hold over her making it easier to push her towards evil deeds. He promised her security after committing the crimes she wished, ‘…you shall see your desire fulfilled, and I will preserve you from every danger and suspicion’ (Dacre 181). Victoria had wished Berenza dead and Lilla out of the way but required the extra push from Zofloya.
“I have no idea what a feminist is although I have heard the term before,” said Stewart. I told her not to feel bad because I did not know the meaning of the term until I took the class and gave her bell hooks’ definition. Feminism is a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. Although they do not have to be an activist, they should be pro-choice. “With that being said I don’t consider myself a feminist but I am pro-choice. I give advice and let others learn from experience. A person is going to do what they want so I don’t push my opinion off on others.” While others have a clue to what a feminist is but do not fully understand their purpose. “I think a feminist is someone who wants more equal rights for women but take it to the extreme,” said Nia. I explained to her that a feminist does not have to be an extreme activist. Her response was “I still don’t consider myself a feminist because I don’t really care about trying to make a change for women’s rights. I think it’s as good as it is going to get,” said

The ideology of feminism is that women should be treated as potential intellectual equals and social equals to men. Feminism also, by its nature, embraces the belief that all people are entitled to freedom and liberty within reason-including equal civil rights-and that discrimination should not be made based on gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, religion, culture, or life style. Feminists -and all persons interested in civil equality and intellectuality are dedicated to fighting the ignorance that says people are controlled by and limited to their biology, Elizabeth Blackwell is considered an important
Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. In simple terms, it is the ideology of women being equal to men and it is often misinterpreted as the belief of women being above them. Feminists believe in diminishing patriarchy which is a system of society and or government in which men are considered more powerful than women. When people are against feminism they are supporting sexism which is why it is important to educate ourselves on the matter and to understand why we need it.
General Strain Theory means that people who experience strain or stress become distressed or upset which may lead them to commit a crime in order to cope. The key element in the general strain theory is an emotion which could motivate a person to commit a crime. One example that could prove this theory as a true factor about how someone’s emotion could affect the outcome of committing a crime, is by losing their source of income. If a person once had a great job where they were able to earn a lot of money but later was let go due to job cuts, that person stress of losing that high-end income could push them over the edge and they do the unthinkable such as shooting the boss who let them go. The three main sources of General Strain Theory are
Women are given a set of expectations, roles, and limitations within institutions run by men that have long been embedded into society and feminism seeks to change the unproportionate power which would ultimately lead to a more equally represented body of people. Feminism is a tool that can aid women in abolishing all the connotations that come with gender. In One Is Not Born A Woman, Monique Wittig argues that "To refuse to be a woman...does not mean that one has to become a man," to refuse to conform to the ideal images of women, and to break free from the social constraints, stereotypes, controlling images, expectations, and oppression from social institutions does not mean becoming a man. Feminists aren 't aiming to make everyone a man, it does not aim to "bring down" men or favor women, its goal is to liberate all oppressed groups because the privileges exclusive to men "should be considered as the entitlement of everyone" according to Peggy McIntosh in White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack. Feminism today is very important because it is not longer exclusive, and advocates for fairness for all (people of all ethnicities, any race, any religion, any social class, community, sexuality, etc). Instead of excluding people with different identities or
A feminist is someone who is trying to advocate for the equality of women. I believe ...
What is feminism anyway? Feminism cannot be tied down to a single definition because not all feminists believe in the same thing, they all have their own different set of beliefs. Feminist literary theory according to Lois Tyson (1999, p. 81) examines the ways in which literature reinforces or undermines the economic, political, social and psychological oppression of women. This song speaks about the inequality of women. In the first line of the first verse, it says ‘You have got the words to change a nation but you are biting your tongue’, this clearly describes patriarchy. Patriarchy, is the syst...

True feminism sought for women to have freedom and rights, such as the right to vote, the right to gain an education, and the right to equal wages. In most aspects, we have been given these rights, but radical feminists are not content. There has been a jump from “We are equal to men,” to “women are superior.” Women have been fighting stereotypes for ages, proclaiming how horrid they are, yet quickly turn around and stereotype men and see no issue with this hypocrisy. The way for women to reach the equality they seek is to bring others up as well as themselves, not to tear them down. When feminists realize and act upon this, they will begin to see the results they have been hoping
“Feminism is not a dirty word. It does not mean you hate men, it does not mean you hate girls with nice legs and a tan, and it does not mean you are a bitch or a dyke, it means that you believe in equality.” - Kate Nash
