Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York . Raised in Detroit , Michigan . Aaliyah Dana Haughton started voice lessons shortly after she learned to talk As a young actress/singer competed successfully on the television program Star Search at age 11. That same year, she performed with R&B legend Gladys Knight, the former wife of her uncle and manager, Barry Hankerson, at a five-night stand in Las Vegas.

In 1994, at the age of 15, Aaliyah catapulted onto the R&B charts herself with her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. Produced by the successful singer R. Kelly, the album quickly sold a million copies and eventually earned platinum status based largely on the success of two hit singles, "Back and Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Love)." Later that year, tabloid reports surfaced claiming that the sultry teen singer had married the 27-year-old Kelly, but Aaliyah denied the union and the marriage was reportedly annulled.

Assata Shakur’s political views are similar and different from many other political activists but the injustice she faced changed her views in ways other will never understand. Assata Shakur was an African American activist who became a member of the Black Panther party which supported the black power movement. Shakur faces oppression and is persecuted by the FBI for being a member of the black liberation army and the Black Panther party. Assata was convicted and charged with murdering a New Jersey police officer. She faced life in prison but she escaped and fled to Cuba where she seeked political asylum. ... social dance. Many people in today’s society enjoy social; dancing. Chapter eleven dance concert, properly planning and establishing a dance concert is of the utmost importance. The partnership with the lighting designer usually takes priority over all other factors. One of the most important issues concerning customers has to do with mobility. The dancer must be able to move comfortably in the costume. The task of producing a dance concert is an overwhelming and tiring one. Chapter twelve dance in education and career in dance, many dance educators present the argument that teaching and learning dance as an art form is obviously absent from the American student education. There has always been and always will be people who have a love, desire, and passion to instruct and learn the art of dance, will ensure an important place for dance in higher education.
However, New York Public Schools offered ballroom dancing classes to low-income students of color, which allowed the arts to be included in their curriculum. Watching the film, I observed the positive reaction the children had to the dance classes. Overall, they were exposed to different cultures, made new friendships, became more confident, and aware of different career options such as professional dancers or singers (Agrelo, 2005).
I considered myself a performer, and after years training as a classical ballerina I expanded into stunting and tumbling. While on tour, I developed friendships and bonds with dancers strengthened by a mutual love for dance, a commonality over the pain our bodies endured daily, and conversations on bruised and broken toes.

We all might not admit it but we have a favorite author that we must always read and follow. Something about them will make you still want to follow in whatever they write or say. Sister Souljah is one of those influential authors. Souljah is a strong, educated, opinionated black woman who sometimes is a threat to others. Some people consider her as racist because of her opinions and thoughts but she is entitled to a freedom speech, therefore she should not have to worry about people saying she is racist. This paper centers on Sister Souljah and her works. She is one of my favorite authors and one of the most amazing person one has ever came across. Sister Souljah books draw you in because she doesn’t hold back anything when she talks or speak.
Lena Horne was born on June 30, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents were Teddy and Edna Scottron Horne. After her father left her at the age of two in order to pursue his gambling career; her mother leaving soon after that to pursue her acting career; she went to live with her grandparents. Through her grandparents influence she became involved with organizations like the NAACP, at an early age.
Whitney Houston was born in August 9th, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Whitney came from a long line of illustrious singers, for her mother, Cissy Houston, was an American gospel singer. Her mother was the Choir minister at “New Hope Baptist Church”. As well, her cousin Dionne Warwick was also an American singer and TV-host, her best songs include “Walk on By” and “Heartbreaker”. Finally, her godmother, Aretha Franklin, was an accomplished American singer and musician. Her father, John Russell Houston, was also an artist in a sense through his work as a professional theatrical manager, although he didn’t have a career in singing.
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24th, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas. Most of the time of her growing up was spent at her grandmother’s house. As Amelia’s mother (whose name was Amelia Otis, note the maiden name) married a man (Edwin Earhart) who had alcohol issues. This led a boatload of almost-divorces, and separation of the family. But during the time Amelia was able to do very well in school.

Over Halloween weekend, Dance TCU in concert, performed at Ed Landreth Hall on the TCU campus, was a mid term showcase performed by the students in the TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance. The overall mood was very professional. These college level dancers performed various pieces from Giselle to video edited versions of dance to contemporary dances inspired by swing dancing. Each piece was unique and whether the style was classical or contemporary, the execution was very good. The quality of the performance was spectacular and showed all the work that everyone involved in the production has put out to perfect all the aspects of the show come together. Beyoncé then began to branch out more and suggested that her and cousin, Kelly Rowland, and two classmates, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, begin an all-female singing group. Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles became their band’s manager.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on May 5, 1988 in Tottenham, an area of North London, England. Her mother, Penny Adkins, was eighteen years old when she gave birth. Adele left public schools after her mom enrolled her at the London School for Performing
Beyoncé is a globally respected figure, that has worked hard since childhood to get where she id today. Her achievements at the age of just 33 are astonishing and her career is far from over. Beyoncé is an advocate for feminism and equality of the sexes. Her prolific efforts as a humanitarian have benefited millions and are encouraging a strong drive that will ultimately change society for the better. She is an inspiration and role model for females across the globe, proving to be one of the hardest working woman in show business today.
