“Feminism is not a dirty word. It does not mean you hate men, it does not mean you hate girls with nice legs and a tan, and it does not mean you are a bitch or a dyke, it means that you believe in equality.” - Kate Nash Feminism is a very controversial topic that most people try to just skirt around in hopes that you don’t offend. It’s so controversial because there are more lies than truths about feminism and most believe the lies. Feminism is so controversial because there are stereotypes and there is a lack of information. Feminism in a short phrase is the idea that men and women are equal on all levels, and if you are a feminist, you believe in that idea. There is no right or wrong way to be a feminist as long as you continue to follow that idea, and you must be educated. You must know the main types of feminism, the hot topics and how to get involved, and the truth from the lies. The first thing to know is what the three main “types” of feminism there are. They are liberal, radical and libertarian. It holds that women, as well as men, have a right to such freedom due to their status as self-owners.” To me, libertarians are kinda a mix of the other two and is actually similar to liberal feminism. Now the burning question of which one am I? Well the “ideal feminist” is a lie, there is no perfect or ideal way to go about feminism. In my mind, you’re a mix of those three and the multitudes of others that are out there. The main thing is that you believe in equality for all.
