From the reading of Yaloms universal factors, the articles talk about how therapist all have different techniques they like to use on clients. The article talks about how different therapeutic factors and how they can help the client get better. I agree with the article that everybody is different and that this means that not the same technique is going to work on everybody .like the article mention that factors that can affect some clients to make a change would be: the length of time, the patient functioning, the type of group, the age, the diagnosis of the patient and ideology of the group leader/therapist. When I first found out that I have an eye disease and that eventually I would lose my vision, when I first heard this I was so upset, I didn’t care about anything till I realized that that wasn’t me and that I need to overcome my disease and embraces what I had and to not let go of my dreams and goals. For me the thing that has always motivated me has been my family, they are my support system. In my opinion that think that people make a change when they have something to look forward to or a goal they would like to reach. Also people make changes when they really love someone and when they don’t want to see that person suffer anymore because of them. having a support system during a time of recovery is the best because you know that people believe in you and it motivate that person to get better .what I have wondering about patients who have gotten better and they have been sober for many years and all the sudden they fall back to old habits, why do they do it. I also think that reason why people change in groups is because they are relating to topics covered in groups and they are understanding why they need to make changes. For some people Group is like a therapy group where you can say you troubles without being judge and sometimes you get a sense of belonging since you realized that you’re not the only one struggling. Another factor that I found interesting that the article mention was the instillation of hope, this is a factor that I fully believe in and that 100 percent think that it should be within every patient is the hope of getting better . Hope is not a factor only patient have but the group leader and or therapist or a family member and supporter they all need to have hope that the patient is going to get
