Hercules (An Epic Hero)
Hercules is best known as the strongest of all of the mortals, he is also stronger than many gods. He was the last mortal son of Zeus, and the only man born of a mortal woman to become a god upon his death. Offsetting his strength was a noticeable lack of intelligence or wisdom. He might have his bad times but he would do anything to help a friend. When his anger passed, he was the one who was critical about his anger issue. He was too strong for anyone to force a punishment on him. When he was punished, he showed patience, fortitude, and endurance that was something else other than his strength. He was one of a mortal role model, he was strong and not only that, he has other good characteristics too.

was strong, courageous and brave. His strength is unmatched by anything. Signs of his strength was when he was just a little kid, or baby. When he was just adorable and innocent. For his first labor he chases out a monstrous lion from its lair, he seized it in his bare hands and squeezed it to death. Hercules celebrated hero, he showed his strength with all of his adventures, among many adventures were the twelve labors of Hercules for his cousin, in order for him to gain immortality. Hercules cared for people close to him and for strangers because he valued their lives more than his own. Hercules was also willing to do many courageous things that a normal person would not do. He was a very strong man who could never be killed by anyone but by himself. Hercules was a hero because he was caring, courageous, and strong. He was courageous because he helped the people of Stymphalus move away the birds that were destroying the city. This action of his proved that he was caring because he was helping and protecting the city. Hercules is very courageous because one of his labors he was a war with the Amazons, who were wild warlike women, but of course Hercules defeated them. Hercules was best known for his strength, bravery, and has an adventure personality. Besides his strength, he had a great thought to himself and he considered himself equal to all of the other gods. Hercules was not smart, but his bravery made his personality even more loving. Through out the life of Hercules he showed bravery, strength, and a very adventurous personality. Hercules was the only hero to become a god, and have a home at Mount Olympus because if his accomplishments as a hero. Hercules was the most famous of the Heroes. Hercules rose to fame and became a god, and his stories are still being told all over Greece. Hercules was the one and only hero to become a god, have he also had a home at Mount Olympus because of all of his accomplishments he had throughout his life time. There were others hero's, but Hercules was most famous or most best known out of all of the other hero's. Hercules was at fame and that was when he became a god, and his past or all of his stories are still told in Greece. These wonderful stories had never ended and they never will. Hercules was brave and courageous, he enjoyed all of his adventures and was almost lost fear to the part of arrogance. Hercules is considered an epic hero.
He was a hero because he saved towns from evil monsters like the hydra, slaying monsters and other evil things like that. He was also considered a hero because he was half man, half god. The Greeks revered Demi gods because they wanted to get closer to the gods. Hercules has been known for the great monsters that he took on, and also the tasks that he was able to accomplish. He is also known that Hera, a goddess hated him. Hera hated Hercules with a burning passion, because her husband Zeus went behind her back and had Hercules with another woman. In the old world, Hercules was a hero simply because of his incredible strength, the same way what's his face was a hero because he invincible apart from his Achilles heel. Hercules weakness was that he was mortal. He was godlike, but he could die like any human. Although he is considered a hero, he still has a weakness. All heroes has a weakness but they are still considered as heroes, epic heroes. Those are my basic reasons why Hercules is considered an epic hero. Another thing that might consider him a hero is that he is a very great person. Hercules is the god that everyone liked he developed all of his thing he enjoyed, he had many adventures among him, and he enjoyed
it.
How do you define a hero? Some may define a hero as someone with great courage and bravery; to others a hero might be a strong warrior and leader who wins battles; others may define a hero as one who uses his brain as much as his brawn to win. In Homer's epic poem, Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as a hero by every definition.
The dictionary defines hero in mythology and legend as, "a man who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and born of divine or royal blood. He is a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life." In addition, I believe a hero is one to be looked up to and emulated. What is interesting about epic heroes is that their great deeds and exploits all have to do with defeating themselves, so with help from the gods they can truly become heroic. They can only defeat themselves with the help of the gods.
Everyone knows the story of Hercules, but not everyone knows that it follows the same pattern as most hero stories. Hercules is a story about the son of Zeus. When Hercules was a baby, Pain and Panic, Hades’ evil henchmen, gave him a potion to turn him mortal. It was prophesied that this baby would be the one to defeat Hades and they didn’t want that to come true. Since Hercules was now mortal, he could no longer live on Mount Olympus. A couple on earth took him in so he could grow up as a human. Hercules knew something was different about himself, so when he grew up, he set out to discover who he really was. Even though Hercules is an ancient Greek myth, it still follows Joseph Campbell’s modern basic outline of a hero’s journey.
Hercules of 1997 got put together by one of the popular Disney directors, Ron Clements and John Musker. Their earlier works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “The Great Mouse Detective,” which were movies that were astoundingly successful Disney movies that almost everyone enjoyed watching. Hercules without a doubt is one of my top Disney favourite movies, because of its really pop and melodious songs, and its simple yet very intricate plotline.
A hero is a person with great strength and courage. Odysseus portrays a true hero in The Odyssey. He is the true hero of this epic because he has saved his men on many occasions using his cunning behavior and vast intellect. It shows he has the courage to be a true hero. Odysseus is a hero because he uses his cunning personality to save his men when they cannot save themselves.
A person will typically think a hero as one who is equipped with great strength or ability. But a hero is more than just being brave or strong. In the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus goes through many challenges and is faced with his biggest weakness: his hubris or excessive pride. Though, Odysseus earns the title of a hero because he exhibits courage, utilizes cunning, and overcomes his hubris.
There are many different ways that a hero can be described or imagined. Everyone has their own ideas of what makes someone a hero. Also, for many heroes it is debatable whether they really are a hero. In The Odyssey by Homer, translated by Robert Fitzgerald, Odysseus is one such debatable hero. Odysseus is a hero because he is brave, level-headed, and he shows faithfulness and respect to important figures in his life.
... When one looks far enough into Hercules’ life, they will see that “struggle and strain are at the demigod’s mythic core” (Simmons, 2008, p. 635). The saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” proves to be true yet again. In order to see a person/god/hero for who they really are, we need to look deep. Yes Hercules was heroic but what led to his heroism is overseen by most.
Despite his fame, strength, bravery, and the killing of the Hydra, it’s still not enough to win him a seat among the Gods in the Disney movie. In the myth Hercules rewards for all his heroic acts and is deemed worthy of becoming a god.
People are heroes in different ways for different reasons. American soldiers are heroes because they fight boldly for their country. Corrie Ten Boom is also a hero because she took risks and saved hundreds of Jews. Abraham Lincoln is another example of a hero because he fought for what he thought was right and helped free all slaves. Similarly, Odysseus, the main character in Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, possesses all of these characteristics and many more, making him a true epic hero.
Hercules, or known in Latin as Heracles, was the greatest of the Greek heroes, a paragon of masculinity. In art Hercules was portrayed as a powerful, muscular man wearing lion's skin and armed with a huge club. He was also described as being a macho man buffoon, who was very impulsive. Hercules’ home and birthing place is in Thebes, Greece. Thebes is a city in central Greece. It plays as an important setting in many Greek myths, such as the stories of Cadmus, Oedipus, Dionysus and many other important roles in Greek Mythology. The demigod, Hercules has an interesting origin, he is most famous for his 12 labors, and leaves a legacy in words and expressions.
Odysseus, the protagonist of the Odyssey by Homer fits the outline of an epic hero because he is courageous, quick-witted, and a natural leader. Odysseus isn’t only known for his muscles, also his clever mind. He is one of the great heroes that possesses both brains and brawn. He is also a hero with outstanding skill and bravery. It is no wonder why many teachers refer to Odysseus as a powerful hero. I believe Odysseus is a hero because he is clever, can overcome obstacles, is very brave, a leader but like all great heroes, he has his weaknesses.
Hercules was the strongest of all the heroes and of course a possessor of superhuman strength. Hercules was an excellence marksman, and also a champion wrestler who once wrestled the great god Zeus to a draw! It is said that Hercules made the god of the sea Poseidon give way in battle, and wounded Ares the god of war in another battle. Hercules could toss boulders around like pebbles and move mountains that got in the way of his cattle. The possessor of superhuman strength also relieved the Titan Atlas of the burden of holding up the heavens. Like his strength Hercules’s bravery showed tremendously in times of need.
Jason is known for retrieving the Golden Fleece while Hercules is remembered for his 12 labors. Jason traveled to mysterious locations and received aid from two gods: Athena and Hermes. In addition to the help from Phineus, Jason returned with the glory of the Golden Fleece. He returned to his home to become the rightful king of Lolcus. Similarly, Hercules was also a special hero. He was a demigod who had superhuman strength. After murdering his family, Hercules was sentenced to twelve very dangerous labors. After Hercules died, he was considered as one of the greatest heroes in Greek Mythology.
