Write about a funeral you have attended. I and my dad were going on vacation with my sister and her oddball boyfriend like we did every year. And we went camping at Coralville Lake. Brought our boat as well as 9 days worth of belongings and food. We left my widowed grandma with my aunt and her grandson. And basically hit the road as soon as my sister arrived. Once we got there we set up camp checked in and went to get something to eat. I didn’t know if it was the night air or what but all night I was getting eerie feelings something would happen. I couldn’t sleep even with the help of sleep aids. So finally after 8 hours and no luck of getting any sleep me, my dad, my sister and her boyfriend went to get something for breakfast at 6:00 in the morning. I had a cappuccino with hashbrowns and an egg. After …show more content…
I was in my first year of Middle School and preparing for another Halloween party. My parents broke up just before I was 4 years old and I have lived with my dad since. My older sister lives with my mom and I rarely got to see her. She was my half sister. My mom and her dad shared custody and she would travel between Erie Pennsylvania with her dad and here with our mom. My mom had some problems. among them was drinking. She did a lot of it. Because of it she would tell me she would come to see me but rarely did. I grew used to being disappointed by her and it came to be expected. So when my sister was in town staying with my mom, I still rarely got to see her. I missed her because I loved her a lot and we were very close. After I was living with only my dad he started throwing Halloween parties for me every year. We would put up all sorts of spooky decorations, set up treats, set up the fog machine and play spooky music. I would invite all my friends and we would have a ghostly great time. The one thing that was always missing was my sister being there. That would have made it

One of the major themes found in literature is death. Many authors use death in literary works abstractly thus, provoking the reader to contemplate the power of death. In Jack London 's "To Build a Fire," Susan Glaspell 's "A Jury of Her Peers," and William Faulkner 's "A Rose for Emily," the theme of death is not the obvious theme at the beginning of the stories but, slowly builds as the story develops.
Although we started to live with our new family June 4, 2004, we officially got adopted on February 18, 2005. This family was very ice and made us feel like we were at home. The funeral and wake were especially difficult because of having to stand in the greeting line. Having to greet everyone is truly annoying. This is especially true when you don’t know who most of the people are, and when you yourself are under emotional duress. That point aside, it was very interesting to see the reactions of the different people. One thing I noticed was the conversations between my father’s cousins. They were depressed, but not because of the death. The overall tone was “who’s going to be next”; they were all in their fifties and sixties. At this time I was 25 years

In order to evoke emotion from his audience, Auden uses a series of different poetic devices to express the sadness and despair of losing a loved one. Through the use of poetic devices such as an elegy, hyperboles, imagery, metaphors, and alliterations as well as end-rhyme, Auden has created a powerful poem that accurately depicts the emotions a person will often feel when the love of their live has passed away.
My mom and I arrived at my great aunt’s house in Ely, Nevada at around dinnertime. We both decided it was time to get some sleep due to our long drive. My mom had asked me to wake her up if my dad did not call or arrive by midnight. She was obviously very tired from driving and I had slept most of the way anyways. I could tell my mom was very worried about my dad because he was traveling on his Harley Davidson, and the roads were dangerous. My innocent ten-year-old mind did not think anything bad could happen,
