World War II is also a very treacherous war that cost everyone involved hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. But this war ultimately helped America because Germany doesn’t bother us again and we of course get the recognition and wealth. The other bad thing that comes from World War II is that we split up Korea and that of course is bad because we don’t anyone to be mad at us and the North side are commies. The Korean War first of is also known as “The Forgotten War” so did it really help or hurt if nobody remembers it. The war though was forgotten for three decent reasons it was right after WWII, right after was ‘Nam, and it was really quick because the North was trying to invade the South so we just bombed and napalmed the place.
It was actually a really good win for the Americans though because we got to beat against the red scare and help the little guys out. Vietnam was a very bad war all in all just for the fact that a lot of people lost faith in our government for good reason too it wasn’t just because they were being idiots. The government was lying to the public about winning the war when people could just watch it on the old T.V. to figure out they weren’t. America lost soldiers we shouldn’t have, wasted money, and lost the trust from the public. For me though looking at all of these wars and gathering all the info I think that is was good that we went to war in all of them even Vietnam. I’m glad we went to Vietnam to let the government see that they just can’t be lying every which way they look. I’m just very sad that it cost many lives to get them to see that. We all also got to remember that even war solves some things it obviously doesn’t solve all and cost lives to get the some things that you are getting out of it.
In World War II the Allied Forces had a "Europe First" campaign of invading the Atlantic countries before the Pacific. This is because Germany served as a bigger threat than Japan to the Allied Powers. In the United States, Franklin Delanor Roosevelt was the President. He kept America neutral at first, but later entered in after Pearl Harbor. George Patton was a popular U.S. Army leader who started tank warfare in America. Bernard Montgomery commanded the 8th Army which had victories in Europe including D-Day. At the near end of the war Omar Bradley toured through Germany notifying the rest of the world what had gone on there with all of the death camps during the Holocaust, which was where the murder of over 6 millioin Jewish people took place.
In the United States, the Second World War was considered “the good war”. It’s sort of weird that World War II was considered a “good war” considering that this war took five times as many lives than the very first World War and is also appalling to know that one of the bloodiest wars in history was known in the United States as “the good war”, but the reason for this classification is because of the role that the U.S. played in bringing an end to the fascist dictatorship in Italy, bring an end to the aggression of the Japanese, and last but not least the Allied Forces put an end to Hitler’s Nazi Regime, and prevented the Third Reich from taking over Europe. The war even marked the start of something new by guiding a new world order, thus putting
World War II as a Good War The vast majority of Americans supported World War II (WWII) after Pearl Harbor was bombed, recognizing a fascist threat to Western democracy. WWII was a good war. It had the ability to unite America. They united against Nazism and fascism. But even a good War has its bad times.
World War II may have been the focus of the decade, but music was the focus of the war. Songs ranged from patriotic songs to songs for fun and dancing such as the Rumba, mambo, cha-cha, and conga line. These South American dances became very popular during the 1940s especially among the women (Popular and Social Dance). The war was a very emotional period for everyone, not just the soldiers, so the music of the war tapped into a lot of emotions. The songs were made for people to help get through their rough times.
World War II, also known as the Second World War was fought by Japan, Germany and Italy, also referred to as the Axis powers; that went against the Allies that consisted of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Britain with help from others. 60 to 80 billion deaths were the result of World War II ("Reasons for American Entry Into WWII"). Initially the United States did not want to interfere with a war going on in a different continent. At the start of the war America began a state of isolationism which kept America away from the war; until its “breaking point”. America’s deviation from isolationism in World War II is what establishes them as a powerhouse country economically an. Also, how America’s growth industrially lead to a post-war boom.
The result of World War II had tragic results for Japan, Germany, and also Italy. The United States and the Allies came out victorious once again but the cost of war greatly affected all the countries. Germany, Japan, and Italy now have more debts to pay and also lost much of their territory once again. The war took many lives and also ended up destroying many beautiful cities. World War II showed how not just the soldiers were affected in the war, but everyone in all the different countries were affected by the war.
World War II began in 1939, and one definitely can’t say that it was enjoyable. Food was rationed, luxuries were removed, taxes were high and work was dangerous. But the war employed about 16 million people, 22 percent of the pre-war labor force, to work in the military. But that didn’t fully solve the problem, because war is expensive. Funding World War II made the national debt rise from $49 billion in 1941 to about $260 billion in 1945. There’s no evidence that wartime spending restored the labor market to health. So it basically just postponed the recovery of the economy.
Having been spread out over more land and involved more people than any other war in history, many believe World War II is also the most historic war in as well. There has never been a war of such immense importance and such a gigantic magnitude. The United States served an absolutely vital role in the outcome of this war. The U.S. was faced with the duty of taking on two different wars at the same time in two different places in the world. Something that many countries would have backed away from. The European front was without hesitation the more evident of the two considering the unquestionable mayhem and evils that were being committed by Adolf Hitler. United States involvement on the European front was unavoidable and, generally much easier for U.S. forces to get to. Having fought in Europe less than thirty years prior, the U.S. was familiar with the territory and proper strategy. The Pacific Campaign of World War II offered an incomparable test for the United States Armed Forces. U.S. Armed Forces had never fought in the South Pacific or even on terrain that resembled the conditions in which they would be faced with in the Pacific Islands. With the Army deeply involved in Europe, in December of 1941 the United States found it self stuck in a war that it was not ready for and had no idea how to fight. However, the United States Marine Corps were the ideal company for the kind of combat they would be faced with in the Pacific. Marines had adequate training for land to sea combat. The Marine Corps fighting in the Pacific gave the U.S. its only chance of being successful against the Japanese military.
Around 1939 to 1942, the axis powers had a very dominant lead in World War 2. It almost seemed like there would be absolutely no chance of stopping them. As it’s been said, sometimes people with the highest power can make forgetful mistakes that can cost them their seat. But the amazing thing is both Japan and Germany were at their highest point in power by 1942. In just a matter of 3 years, all is lost. So the only main question that still stands: what exactly happened?
Wars are good business. They create an immediate demand for a wide variety of materials needed by the government in order to fight the war. They create work opportunities for people that might not ordinarily be considered part of the normal work force. And, while not necessarily good for the soldiers engaged in the fighting, wars are always good for the businesses that provide the materials used in a war. The Second World War was very good for business.
World War II was one of the deadliest wars we know of in history, with as many as sixty million casualties, most of whom were civilians. It impacted a lot of countries, almost all over the world, which is why the name is given. This war impacted many countries in the world, and damaged almost all of the countries involved greatly. It also led to the downfall of Western European countries as world powers, leaving it to the Soviet Union, and the United States. The war started in 1939 and ended in 1945, with the invasion of Poland and the Axis surrender, respectively.
Most people say that wars are inevitable, some say that wars are necessary, some even say that war is good. America has fought in many wars, one of them being World War II. World War II was a very detrimental war for any country who was involved. The war started with Hitler beginning his conquest to conquer the world. America, though, did not get involved until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. In the end, America and its allies won the war putting an end to Hitler’s conquest. Many texts were written about World War II that described what happened in the war. The texts, Hiroshima by Hershey and Jarrell’s The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, both have different powerful themes of war.
World War II was one of the biggest wars in history for the U.S. and the world. Our world was divided between two sides. Axis(Bad Guys) and Allies(Good Guys). The world was in turmoil for six straight years. However, technological advancements helped to ensure allied victory in World War II by helping to gain tactical advantages in combat and providing a sense of fear to the Axis forces.
The War was a watershed for everything in society and so without it our lives would be very different today. It is not something which should (or will) be dismissed as time passes on, because the memory of the War will echo throughout the generations forever.
World War II had a large effect on America, on how we were regarded in the world, on how our culture would grow and develop, and on how our citizens would develop and settle the land on their return. It brought people together for a while that were later torn apart, and changed the way Americans looked at higher education. Perhaps most importantly, it brought America to the world and served it up to them as something that could grow and become part of their culture, call it the Coca-Colonization of the world (Marling).
