Winter break of my eighth grade year my parents decided to go on a cruise. We would go on the cruise and visit Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico. I was less than excited because I did not want to lose wifi. I know I was a vain just fourteen years old. The port was in New Orleans so we ventured the eight hour drive to the port. We arrived and the luggage checks took forever. The lines were so long and I had just been in a car. I was already mad and then we took a family picture and I looked a mess. I became angry that we had to take our I.D. picture too. I wanted to look my best. I know I was a vain just fourteen years old. We get to our cabin and turn on the T.V. and there was breaking news. We were on the ship the day Sandy Hook took place. I was in utter shock. I still …show more content…
remember that moment when I realized how tragic the events were. We set down our bags and toured our crammed courters.
I had just got my camcorder for my birthday, so I filmed everything I saw. My family and I went up to the top as we watched the ship sail off. They pushed us off the dock and we said our bon voyages. The first day was a sailing day at sea. I was used to the thirty degree Tennessee and now we were in seventy degree weather. We lay out on the deck and I swam in the pool. Dinner was my favorite part. You can order whatever your heart desires and the dessert was splendid. Though the dessert cleansed my sweet craving I enjoyed the bread just a little more. The French bread on the cruise is the part I miss the most to this day. The first port day arrived and our adventure was touring the Mayan Ruins. I was an unhappy child, so I was not amused with the tour. It was extremely hot and we just looked at these pyramids. I was uninterested for sure. My favorite part of the tour was being able to swim in this hole. Apparently the hole did not have a bottom from what scientist have found. There were the little menos who sucked your feet. It felt weird, but the water was refreshing. Our last port day was in Cozumel. We planned to go zip lining and
snorkeling. One of those was a horrible idea. They drove us to a shopping center where for an hour or so we were able to find little items. Then, zip lining was next. I was so excited. It turned out we were not zip lining in a forest, but instead on a zip lining course. I was still pumped and it took so long to set it up. The zip lining adventure took no time at all. It was like a flash because the course was short. Most of the time you spent waiting for your turn. We hopped in a cab and they took us to a resort where we went snorkeling. This was the bad idea. There were not professionals helping; they gave us the equipment and you did it on your own. I did not enjoy it because it was hard breathing through the tube. I instead just looked at the baby Barracuda. You could swim and play beach volleyball. We took to the hot tub and used up most of the time there. It was a beautiful cruise for amateurs. We defiantly learned our lesson: less adventure, more cruising.
As I opened my eyes, I saw a giant cruise ship in front of my eyes.It took two whole days but we finally reached Florida where we went Rock Gliding. It’s where you have to get past a giant, rocky maze. The winner gets to cans of ice cream.Though my sister won,we all shared the ice cream.Next stop, the Bahamas!!!In the bahamas we went parasailing up 700 ft above water level,it was so much fun.The boat driver even let us touch the smooth, light blue water with our feet. Finally, we ended with a relaxing dolphin swim on the soft, delicate beach of Jamaica.
I have never waited so long in my life, it took and hour and a half just to get three bags out to where the pickup was. We finally got our bags and took a shuttle to the Crown Paradise Hotel. This Hotel was so nice. It had a mini golf course, three pools(1 inside,2 outside), A basketball court, a movie theatre, etc. My hotel room was also super nice there were too connecting rooms so finally for once I got my own bed. The first day I did the most common and went to the beach. The sand was super hot and I’m not too fond of salt water, it just makes swimming in the ocean ten times worse. Then at night I played ping pong and pool against my dad. Then the rest of the week I would go swim in the outside pool or play futsal(soccer on pavement). I always came back with at least one blister on my foot. The worst thing about this trip was the sunburn, in cancun it's way hotter and it's so easy too get burned. This also made it hard because, since the water is so bad whenever I wanted water I would have to walk all the way to the elevator and then all the way down this long hallway to the gift shop and would buy a water bottle then go all the way back to my room. The food although was super good besides there breakfast and ketchup. The last day was the hardest it took so long trying to get on the plane and the car ride was so boring. But that’s my favorite
It was nice hearing from both of you. We really enjoyed your holiday newsletter and the article written about you, Adam. Mazel Tov! You both are truly amazing and full of life, energy and passion!
Spring break like western democracy, educational systems, philosophy, science, and the arts started in ancient Greece. Historically spring break was the time where Dionysus, the god of wine and festivities, was venerated. In this time the Grecians would have festivals with wine drinking competitions and performances. It can be said that mere details have changed in this holiday or break, but not much else. In 1936, Florida hosted the First College Coaches Swim Forum that brought many college swimmers to the area. This meeting of swimmers evolved to parties of students at the beaches and pools of Florida during this week. Spring Break kept evolving and becoming an event for college students thanks to the production of movies and songs like Spring Break starring Tom Cruise and Shelley Long or Girls Gone Wild. Spring Break is not all about the drinks and the parties. Although the evolution of Spring Break has been created around the idea of college students consuming products that are not ideal for the body or engagement in activities that are not the norm in every day life, other programs have been created not involving these ideals. These other programs range from college sponsored
Everyone loves a good snow day; for the fortunate few it means taking the day off and playing in the snow, or perhaps snuggling into a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa. Yet sometimes we just don’t get snow; we get the blizzards and ice storms that come with. Mother earth is unpredictable, while we have gotten better with predicting weather over the years, it is still a guessing game- it could change at any moment.
Last year, Right before winter break there were 3 snow days. On those 3 snow days It was below freezing. A pond behind my house started to freeze on the first day. After 3 days I saw many people walking on that 2 inch thick layer of ice. Everyone was running around on it slipping on it, It looked fun. The day after I decided to try it. I went outside and walked on the ice. The Ice was very slippery, I noticed that everyone that seemed happy.
This Christmas break, I did not do much. I only went to my grandparent's house and played board games with my family. I'm not sure that you want a paper with me talking about how much time I spent on video games so I'll avoid that topic. Other than going to my grandparent's house I didn't do anything interesting so I only have two topics to talk about. I stayed up until around 5 am then wake up at 10 am. I might seem like 5 hours of sleep wouldn't be enough, but when you're sitting on a couch, watching TV with your family, and walking the dogs once a week, that energy will last for a while.
This week seemed busier than usual with the additional children being around the center for the spring break. Most of the spring breakers were children that attend public school. I was asked to assist with the spring breakers at one point throughout the week. They were a very entertaining and energetic group, so it was a fun experience interacting with them. As for my class, we had a lot of fun preparing for the Easter weekend. We sang songs, hop around like a bunny, read some Easter books and we even had a surprise visit from our special guest for the week, an actual rabbit.
Treacherous weather conditions may have you wanting to stay home, but that’s not always possible, including during the winter months. Sleet, ice, and snow can make for a tough drive, but as long as you take it slow and maintain extra space between yourself and the car in front, you can make the trip. At the same time, it is important to include certain winter car accessories, must have items when the weather is a beast.
Long ago (1 whole year ago) in a galaxy far far away, I went somewhere very special! It was just a regular school Friday when my mom told me that we were going somewhere. I didn't know where were going, well not until I woke up the next day. I was going to The Mall Of America! It was the most fun thing I had ever done!
In a couple more weeks it’s going to be Christmas break. I’m looking forward to Christmas break because I get to sleep in and not have to wake up for school. I enjoy seeing the decorations outside of people's houses and their Christmas trees lit up in the windows. I love to spend the break time away from school with my family and friends. We tend to watch lots of Christmas movies while munching on snacks. This year however, I’m going to be a bit lonely without my dog Cyrus. We usually get him a toy, treats, and a tennis ball for Christmas. This year though we won’t be purchasing any of those items. Cyrus was always so excited and sniffed the treats we got for him right out. I’m really going to miss not having him around with his tail wagging
School is a place where you meet friends and learn as much as you can. Some execrate it because it's too long, but it could be worse. I was one of the people that despised it. When I was younger I hated it so much, that I cried every day. So, My dad took me out. Now that I'm older, I've loved it. Seeing my friends and learning interesting facts. I couldn't see the school change it's schedule though. Here are my reasons why.

Do you like to go to school for seven hours a day straight with no breaks? Mr. Hale please consider having a short break. Having a break would benefit the students. It would acquiesce them to use the bathroom or socialize with friends. Also, you could finish any homework or study. It would also help students pay better attention in class.
On May 22, 1994 it was my ninth birthday. My mom and dad decided to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. We went on one of the Carnival cruise ships. This boat was the biggest boats I ever saw. When we rushed to get on the cruise ship I saw that there were so many rooms and shops. My favorite room was the Game room, when I entered the game room there were so many games and seemed like there were hundreds and hundreds of them. I started to get bored so I left. When I went to back to our room my dad was thinking about going scuba diving.
