Can you imagine a world without the use of energy? Society relies on energy in their daily lives. As the years go by, more energy is being used by the population, such as electricity. Electricity is used everywhere, such as at home, school, business, etc, but most people don't think about where their power comes from and how it is being generated. There are many ways for energy to be created, such as by coal, oil, solar, nuclear, etc, but large-scale wind farms have been a topic of controversy due to many different factors. Although wind farms create large amounts of energy in a productive amount of time, many people are concerned about the location, social considerations, and the health effects it causes. When you build a wind farm you have to consider if the area you are building has the proper climate and as well as access to a proper amount of wind, such as valleys. Due to the mountains that surround the land, we still get wind but not as much as it would be on the other side of the mountains. The individual who builds their wind farm has to consider how effective or productive their turbines will be in the location that they are in. Document B says, “Wind turbines can’t always run at 100 percent power like many other types of power plants, since wind speeds fluctuate. Wind turbines can be noisy if you live close to a wind plant, they can be hazardous to birds and bats, and in hard-packed desert areas there is a risk of land erosion if you dig up the ground to install turbines.” The location of the wind turbines is a very important factor because if you build in the wrong area it could lead to other problems such as land erosion. When you make your decision on the area to put your wind farm, you need to consider the location and make sure it won't create any additional problems.
