Gene transfer technology is simply a sophisticated version of a cut-and-paste operation.Once the desired gene is identified in the native organism's genome, it can be cut out, transferred to the target plant, and pasted into its genome.(The illustration to the right describes the "gene-gun"approach,which is one of several gene transfer methods.)Once the new gene has been introduced, the plant can be bred to create a new strain that passes the gene from generation to generation.Creation of an insect Resistant Tomato Plant.Cut out the gene.Insert gene into a vector with a selectable antibiotic resistance marker gene. Copy vector in bacteria. Coat tungsten or gold particles with DNA vectors. Load vector-coated particles onto teflon bullet.Load bullet into gene gun.Shooting the gene gun releases the particles at a high velocity penetrating the plant cells. The vector enters the cell .The genes are incorporated into the plant genome. The cells are plated on a selective antibiotic media. Only cells that have incorporated the vector will grow. These cells are transferred to medium containing plant growth
To resolve the gender wage gap, the government should consult with employers in federally-regulated sectors to apply a gender-based analysis to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the policy. The law should clearly outline the systematic discrimination that women face in the workforce. This policy would entail employers to determine whether gender-based disparities exists and reevaluate the current pay system from an equity perspective to ensure and promote pay transparency. The law of ensuring pay equity should first be applied to the public sector, including federal public servants, employees of Crown cooperation and federally regulated companies. After this law has been found to be effective, it is also recommended that private corporations follow the same suit and comply with the pay equity
secretaries, for example). Today, most Americans support equal pay for work of comparable (not merely identical) value. It is past time to ensure it is achieved.
Jerry Rolsten of Mendon, Ohio believes in progress and wants the wind farms to continue going up (Thompson 2). There are many positive viewpoints to the newly developed wind farms. “Wind farms produce no air or water pollution because no fuel is burned. Coal is known to be the dirtiest of all fossil fuels and has been connected with acid rain, as well as air pollution caused by particulates” (Parks 61), but that’s not the only reason wind energy is better than fossil fuel energy. Americans will no longer have to be dependent on the foreign fossil fuels because wind turbines diversify our energy portfolio, and the US will no longer be funding other countries and terrorist groups in the midwest (Engdahl 69).
First of all, President Obama’s comments tell about how wind power is a clean and renewable way of providing energy. Also, wind energy has provided new jobs to people. Seventy-five thousand jobs across the United States depend on wind power. Wind energy and solar power combined are enough power to make sure that 13 million homes in America have reliable power.
For many years in United States, equal salary pay for women has been a major issue that women have been fighting for decades. This began back in World War II, when the National Labor Board urged equalize the salary rates for women with the same rates that males were getting of the same professions. (Rowen) Although, traditionally most women do not work to provide for there family and there are not so many independent women during World War II. After World War II more women lost their jobs to veterans returning to the workforce. Women in the workforce after the war have been discriminated ever since. The idea of women as weak and cannot perform there jobs
... it would be nice to be paid equally, we have to think about how it’ll affect our society’s economic system. It should not be based on sex, however, but on the type of work and skills that the workers have. Some women may choose to be stay-at-home moms and not carry another job, but being a mother is a job itself when you are taking care of young children. Overall, we need to take into account how women sometimes may not be appreciated as they want to be.
...and go through the same schooling; they deserve to be paid equally for what they worked for, just like men do (Wage Project).
It is very important to be concerned about the issue because it is constantly increasing throughout the United States. It upsets me that women are paid less than men because women have the same ability and work ethic as men do, but they are looked at differently. According to AAUW, women make 77 percent of what men make. This rate hasn’t changed since 2002 (Hill, 2013). Statistics show that women will never make as much as men due to the thought of never being comparable to men (Williams, 2013).
Women’s right to equal pay or gender pay gap has been a subject of discussion over the years in the united states, women perform similar jobs to men, but are paid
... Since these resources are running out, such as oil or fossil fuels, people are finding ways to make renewable energy resources. Wind power is great to be used instead of fossil fuels. A suggestion would be wind power. It should be used more, since it is cleaner, cheaper, plentiful, free, produces no waste, and requires little land.
Each one of us has their own opinion about what wind turbines do and not what they are actually meant for. Wind turbines are meant to be an energy saving method that can be used ...
Getting energy from wind is becoming more popular by the day. They are becoming a cheap reliable energy source. Wind turbines are getting bigger and better and are providing more energy. Using wind energy is better on the environment and has very few other flaws. Everyone knows that a renewable energy source needs to be found to help the atmosphere and to make enough energy to support mankind.
However, wind energy should be the new power source for the world to replace fossil fuels. Wind energy is a healthier form of power to the environment
One reason why wind energy is a good source of energy is because it is renewable. Renewable energy is a source of energy that can be generated from a resource that is naturally replenished.
Wind power is beneficial in many ways it produces a clean form of energy that saves our valuable fossil fuels. Wind power is even healthier for us, because this type of alternative energy does not produce harmful chemicals into the air which can mix with rain that is a part of our water supply and it decreases the amount of acid rain we have, so we can breathe cleaner air and drink clean water. In the state of Missouri wind power that is used for electricity only cost the user of this energy about 6 or 7 cents. However the price isn’t this low in every state in the United States. “The energy used to build a wind farm is produced by that farm within four to six months. After that, the energy it produces is free.” (Oxlade) According to Tony Zamberlan the state of California and other places with a larger population have the price of 10 to 15 cents a KWH. “Wind is a fuel, and it’s free.” (Hosansky) In the United States alone wind power has created 85,00 jobs and 400 manufacturing plants. Wind power is one of the fastest growing manufacturing sectors. It is a large possibility that wind power could produce thirty percent of the world energy within the next fifteen years. The turbines don’t even have to be put on the land we need right now. Wind turbines can be build out at sea. Wind power is even made on demand. Many of this is debatable in some parts of the world. In parts of the world where it isn’t as windy as Chicago or some places in Missouri energy from wind power is more expensive than energy from fossil fuel power stations. According to David Hosansky in 2007 it was reported that wind power cost $23.37 per megawatt hour nuclear energy at this time was $1.59 coal was $.44 and natural gas was a quarter. This alternative energy is also not consistent, if the wind doesn’t blow the turbines can’t create energy making this an unreliable source of energy. Wind turbines are known as a mature technology yet they
