Life After Death
Will scientists ever find proof of ghosts? Scientists have not found any actual scientific proof of ghosts existing, but they can't explain all of the weird paranormal events that happen. A lot of people believe in ghosts; however, scientists have not found an actual definition of a ghost yet, ghost hunters use tools that may not work, and the idea of ghosts has been around for a long time. The people that do believe in ghosts say a ghost stays on earth for whatever reason.
There is no definition of what a ghost is but a lot of people believe a ghost is a spirit of a person that died. Many people think ghosts are here for different reasons whether it's to get revenge, the way they died, or to finish something they did not when they were alive. Ghosts are said to have their own way of getting in touch with humans like scaring their pets, moving things around, or unexpected chills down their body. Not every ghost is scary sometimes people think some ghosts are here to help in different ways. “Sometimes ghosts stay to help people find lost variables or sometimes ghosts comfort them to show them that there is life after death” (Pipe) while many people believe in ghosts, there is no

All the tools they use are said to detect ghosts yet, none of the have been said to actually detect them. Scientists Believe they might find proof of ghosts in about another 100 years. “So on that basis, I think eventually, given another 100 or so years, we may yet be able to explain what these sorts of ‘energy forces’ really are” (“Are There Any Notable Scientists That Believe in Ghosts or (spiritual Energies) or Proper Scientific Studies into If They Exist or What They Could Be? - Quora”). Ghost hunters do use creative ways to try and detect ghosts yet again, there still is no proof of them existing. Ghost reports and drawings of demons or spirits have been around for a really long
Chinese culture has many interpretations ghosts. One way they are seen as is people who have disgraced their family or country. An example of this in the novel is Maxine's aunt. She is considered a ghost because she disgraced her family by having a baby outside of marriage. They call her "Ghost! Dead ghost! Ghost! You have never been born." (Kinston 14) She drowns herself in the well to become one of the most feared ghost, the Shui Gui or watery ghost. These ghosts are said to be waiting for their victims, to pull them into the water to take the drowned ones place. In the novel another example of what the Chinese consider ghosts are American people. Sometimes they feel haunted by this unfamiliar culture, just as a ghost would haunt. "But America has been full of machines and ghosts- Taxi Ghosts, Bus Ghosts, Police Ghosts, Fire Ghosts, Meter Reader Ghosts, Tree Trimming Ghosts, Five-and-Dime Ghosts." (Kong 96) These examples are American people of any ethnicity. They are called ghosts because the Chinese are not familiar with the culture. Another example of the unfamiliarity is when, "Her husband looked like one of the ghosts passing the car wind...
Ghosts, both figurative and literal, are very common in the Joy Luck Club and are a recurring theme in the book. The mothers of The Joy Luck Club were all raised in traditional Chinese households, which has influenced them to have deeper feelings about ghosts. Mentally, the term ghost is used to describe people who have become a shell of their former selves and rarely speak or do anything. Physically, ghost is used to describe the spirit of the dead. This is the basis of the mothers and others to be scared of the thought of becoming a ghost figuratively and literally. Christianity is the basis of physical fear of ghosts and traditional Chinese beliefs cause the mental fear of ghosts, this stimulates the thought of the afterlife to be
...just another person who wants to be friends and not think the ghost will hurt them or that there is anything scary about it. The tale capitalizes on the fact that an adult would be uneasy thinking that a child can play with a ghost without thinking twice, and even more uneasy that a child can see what they cannot, since adults are supposed to be wiser and more able to explain things. The imagination of a child, which can create some astonishing things, is a scary entity.
“The strange thing about the paranormal is that no matter how often [a person proves] it, it remains unproven” (Chopra). Given personal experience and evidence by professionals that have dedicated their lives to find answers regarding the paranormal and the afterlife. There will always be skeptics so long as there are humans with their own thoughts and opinions. Despite what skeptics say, ghosts exist; there are several eyewitness accounts, religious traditions, and traditional cultural stories that support the paranormal.
Hauntings are sometimes believed to be a contributing factor of people acting insane. The spirits could control what the person's mind thinks and hear and make them appear to be crazy. Haunting may make people appear to be crazy but this presence is actually there. It is real and could interact with you. Physical evidence, and others who believe could help prove a ghost is there. In “The Yellow Wallpaper,” by Charlotte Perkins Stetson, Jane, the narrator, becomes infatuated with her yellow wallpaper. Jane is being haunted because of the things she saw in the wallpaper, like the dark figure, which becomes a woman and the fact that her husband John and Jennie, the housemade are well aware of the mysterious factors of
There are many theories as to how someone or something becomes a ghost. This is called Paranormal which means beyond normal and scientific name is parapsychology, which means study of interactions between living organisms and their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws of nature (Britannica, 147). In 1920, Dr. William McDougall was the first scientific psychical who research about Paranormal Activity (Stefanik, 2000). According to Stefanik, Paranormal experiences often seem weird, uncanny, or unnatural. Typically they are quite rare but there are a few exceptional "stars" such as who have regular paranormal experiences and may show seemingly consistent paranormal ability (Daniel, 2004). Different types of scientists who researched about paranormal activity was spiritualists. The scientists accepted paranormal to be real. There are believers and nonbelievers about the paranormal phenomenon. Discussion about parapsychological phenomena has assumed emotional overtones, unsuitable to scientific discipline, and outspoken but contradictory opinions are still voiced (Cauz, 2010, p.147)
Haunting is an adjective that simply means hard to forget or ignore. One of the first sightings of a haunting was in first century A.D. (Television, 2014) not cited correctly. A guy by the name of Pliny the Younger wrote about his early sightings in a letter which later became a part of his life account. There are many different types of hauntings. They include traditional, residual, poltergeist, and inhuman. The traditional haunting is a haunting that deals with one or more ghosts that are interactive. Traditional haunting are usually connected with an area or a person in that area (Danhausen, 2012). Most of the time the ghosts have the same type of personality traits, hobbies, and knowledge the person the used to be. Residual haunting has to deal with a certain energy that is left in a location or area (Danhausen, 2012). Residual haunting occurs when a big event happens in a loca...
The origin of ghost encounters has been dated back to the early times in history. According to the History Channel, “in the first century A.D. Pliny, the Younger recorded one of the first ghost
That is a no surprise because one of the most asked question would probably be “what happens after we die”. A question that is yet to be answered. However, people do come up with answers that is possibly a fear factor to humans. The idea of becoming ghosts until your heart and state of mind is content to go to the afterlife is a common answer I find in Asian culture. Ultimately, humans want to believe that there is life after death or a way to continue living. That is what makes it scary because it would “violate the laws of nature”. I have two answers to the above question in this paragraph. One would be, after death, if our state of mind is not content after a decent amount of time we remain a ghost and embody an object that we are attached to. For example, if one were to commit suicide by lynching themselves in a forest, they would embody the tree, or even the whole forest and haunt the people that disrupt or disrespect them or what they embody. This theory would explain why people feel that their love ones are still lingering around or even dreaming about them not being fulfilled. It would also make sense of the supernatural craziness that people talk about. Another answer to “what happens after we die,” is incredibly simple. People are just dead, nothing more after death. It is the possibility of still being involved in the world after death, is what scares
A ghost is a soul that appears as a dead person or is against a living person. Most people still believe in ghosts even though they have not seen one. The first sightings of ghosts date back to 856 A.D (Stories, 2014). Ghosts mostly make loud noises and disturbances to let people know that they are in the midst. In the first century A.D., the great Roman author and statesman Pliny the Younger recorded one of the first seen ghost stories in his letters, which became noticeable for their bright story of life during the peak of the Roman Empire. The world around us has become more technical with the findings and history of ghosts not cited correctly (Stories, 2014)). The place ghosts come from or occupy varies depending on their spiritual abilities. Ghosts feel more comfortable in a place that is unrestrained and enables them to move freely (Zamora, 2014).
This story, although somewhat unique in its exact plot, contains many elements that make it a typical and traditional ghost story. These elements suggest common fears in today’s society of people in general, and children specifically.
Are ghosts real? That is the question that most of society deliberates day after day. The true definition of a ghost is a soul or spirit of a deceased individual that can appear in visible form or other manifestations to the living. Ghosts are of the most common paranormal belief in the world. Most people believe in ghosts because of a personal experience, whether that was seeing or sensing an unexplained presence. Who wouldn’t want to believe that our beloved family members are looking for us?
Ghosts are Real Ghosts, as with any other misunderstood group or people, have been preyed upon by others without understanding. The lack of knowledge about ghosts and haunting activity has led people astray as to what they really are. What Hollywood and television portrays is very inaccurate and cannot be relied upon as truthful. They show these spirits of the dead as being evil in nature, filled with malice and harmful intent. But this is not the case.
Ghosts have been around for many years and the root of the whole idea comes because it is “based on the ancient idea that a person's spirit exists separately from his or her body, and may continue to exist after that person dies” (“History of Ghost Stories”). Ghost stories have been told through centuries and because of this it is not known where the first spirit could have appeared or why, but one of the first actually recorded experience happened within the first century A.D. A man named Pliney recorded that he had seen a man and heard objects moving around and he could not explain what what happening (“History of Ghost Stories”). Even though the first supernatural experiences are not known, they created worldwide talk to present time about spirits and hauntings.
century, ghost hunting is almost as scientific as physics. Ghosts are now normally categorized into one of three groups: a residual haunting, a spirit that lived as a human , or a spirit that never lived as a human (Killen, 1).
