Hey you, yeah you don’t eat me! Why because I got three reasons why. Number 1: I’m not healthy for you. Number 2: I can get overcooked. Last but not least, I got a family just like you. My first reason is if you're a bad cook you can burn me. Nobody wants a burnt turkey. They will just not eat me and you will end up throwing me away. In his article, he tries to address the issue about America’s food industries by using literal devices such as tone, logos, ethos, diction, and organization in order to spread his message. He begins his article by addressing the topic and as he continues writing, he supports his topic by writing about personal experience and moves onto the reasons why his topic in a serious issue. That is a lot! You can also get salmonella poisoning from meat. People think that the problems come from eating red meat and are opting for fish over steak, but new evidence proves that fish can cause health problems too, risks that can’t be cooked away. This is a growing problem called histamine poisoning (Peck). Children are learning at a younger age that they don’t like meat, maybe because they don’t like the taste, or maybe it’s because they have a fear of eating their favorite cartoon or movie hero. The amount of stories of inadequate foods people have consumed with sickness or even death as a result is astonishing. Having a bad experience such as getting sick after eating something would certainly create a negative thought about that food, causing one to avoid it in the future. Another common reason for not eating certain foods is for the lack of nutrients contained. There are very few foods that I don’t eat because of bad experiences; therefore, most of the foods I avoid are a result of the small amount of nutrients contained in those foods.
Our food is the basic component that decides our health. It is a common myth that healthy food is not tasty and tasty food is not healthy. It is not true. I am not going to say that you should avoid junk food. You must enjoy your meal and eat only those things which you like to eat. Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
