1. I really enjoyed "the machine that won the war". I really do not like reading but this story was actually pretty good . I was kind of confused at first, but I finally understood and I really enjoyed it. 2. The genre of this story is a science fiction. It is a science fiction because it talks about Aliens and other plants and or things not of this world. 3. The exposition of the machine that won the war is that three men are in a computer room celebrating the end of a war with another planet all thanks to MultiVac, the super computer. The rising actions are when Henderson explains how the data being fed to MultiVac was corrupted, Jablonski discrediting himself and states how he knew how MultiVac was malfunctioning, and when Swift states …show more content…
he couldn't leave a life or death discussion to a computer. The climax is when Swift reveals that he flipped a coin to make all his important decisions. There is no falling action. The denouement is that many of the characters trusted MultiVac. 4. The protagonist is MultiVac since it is the reason the war was won. Antagonist is Swift since he flipped his coin all the time. 5.
The main characters are swift and Henderson. Both men debate who really won the war. Swift first name is Lamar and he is the executive director of the solar Federation and he believes it was MultiVac who won the war. Henderson is a brilliant inventor who believes that the reason the war was Henderson is a brilliant inventor who believes that the reason the war was won won because of the programmers. 6. And exact date is not given but "the machine that won the war" takes place somewhere in the distant future. The story takes place in an underground chamber of the largest supercomputer of the world, MultiVac. Yes there can be more than one setting. Another setting would be the home of the Denabinas, in which, MultiVac destroyed. 7. Isaac Asimov was very talented and writing such an amazing story. The setting really can be seen by certain words and details that he uses. I believe that the author has emphasized the certain details because it makes the story more believable and gives you a better chance to imagine and understand the setting as the author I believe that the author has emphasized the certain details because it makes the story more believable and gives you a better chance to imagine and understand the setting as tye author wants you to. I also believe he does this to set a tone for the story and gives us the reader a better picture. Out these elements I believe the story would be flat and unentertaining. These details are what makes a good story or
book. 8. "The machine that won the war" is a very good story. The details of the settings create a very tense and kind of gloomy mood. I believe that the mood can be very tense because of the disagreement between swift and Henderson. The argument made the move very tense for me because both me and have very valid reasons for why the war The argument made the mood very tense for me because both me and have very valid reasons for why the war one won. Also feel as if the moon was gloomy because if you think about it they discharge droid an entire planet and ric also feel as if the moon was gloomy because if you think about it they just destroyed a planet.
what kinda sucked about it is that they dragged out to the end. which made you know what's going to happen when ending came. that's why it was so dull cause I was on the last page and Sam still hasn't been killed yet so I knew right away what was going to happen. Recommendations: I would recommend this if you want to study the sight affects of the war.
12. The rising action in my novel starts when the bushwhackers attacked Jeff's father. The bushwhackers attacked to steal the Bussey's food and mules. Luckily, Jeff's dog, Ring, scared them off before they could do much damage. This, and his father being pro Union, were the motivation for Jeff to go to war for the ...
One of the settings most important factor is location. Location is the basic aspect of the story such as conflict, reaction, character and plot. Sinclair Ross used the aspect of the location very we...
Every book has a theme; some more powerful than others. In the story “Trurl’s Machine,” written by polish author, Stanislaw Lem, you join engineers, Trurl and Klapaucius, on the run from a not-so-dumb thinking machine. Be determined,be brave, and be prepared to destroy your creations, for the outcome of not doing so may be catastrophic.
Darko Suvin defines science fiction as "a literary genre whose necessary and sufficient conditions are the presence and interaction of estrangement and cognition, and whose main formal device" (Suvin 7-8) is a fictional "novum . . . a totalizing phenomenon or relationship" (Suvin 64), "locus and/or dramatis personae . . . radically or at least significantly" alternative to the author's empirical environment "simultaneously perceived as not impossible within the cognitive (cosmological and anthropological) norms of the author's epoch" (Suvin viii). Unlike fantasy, science fiction is set in a realistic world, but one strange, alien. Only there are limits to how alien another world, another culture, can be, and it is the interface between those two realms that can give science fiction its power, by making us look back at ourselves from its skewed perspective.

Characteristics of the Genre: The genre of Grapes of Wrath was historical fiction. Historical fiction contains a fictional story, but based on the structure of events in history that really happened. For example, the Dust Bowl really happened in history but Tom Joad probably was not a real man.
One of the great literary devices is setting. Throughout the story there are three different setting.
1. I think the place of the movie is very important because even though World War 2 was happening it wasn't happening everywhere. I think that the setting of the movie was supposed to mean something to people of other countries, especially in America. If it had been set in America, it wouldn't have made much sense or as much as an impact because World War 2 wasn't a huge thing to Americans yet. The culture was also so different as well and I think it makes people look at that differently as well.
The setting is important to the overall novel studied because it helps highlight major themes in the novel, it further characterizes the motivations of the characters, and helps explain the overall message of the novel. In 1984 by George Orwell, the overall setting of the novel is in London, which is called Airship 1 in Oceania.
I really liked this book because of the stories it had in it, that really helped me understand how bad these times really were, and how the treatment was horrible. I read a lot of how strict they were which was a part of my essay.
Generally speaking, the two most frequently used genres in literature are fictional and non-fictional. Having said this, fictional and non-fictional literature are distinct regarding their purpose as well the literary devices they use. Literary devices are specific language methods which writers use to form text that is clear, interesting, and unforgettable. Fictional literature, for instance, is something that is made up; however, non-fictional is factual. Furthermore, non-fictional works of literature such as literary essays usually convey a message using literary devices that differ than those used in fictional literature such as short stories, which are meant to amuse its readers. Literary essays uses literary devices such as description,
The School by Donald Barthelme is a short story that proposes the significance of life in front of its reader in the most absurd way possible. Fiction is a story that is not true whereas non-fiction is a tale based on real time. But what genre would best suit this short story by Donald? A fiction because it seems so unrealistic and depressing or a nonfiction because it conveys the true message of life through unusual occurrences of the deaths and life. The School should be considered a non-fiction because it states death is inevitable, life is unpredictable and love is all we need.
