Who i think should be MVP Whenever you’re in a group you always notice that one person in particular, does better and or does something game changing to whatever you’re doing. These people are called MVPs. MVP stands for Most VALUABLE Player/Person. MVPs are important to what you’re doing, they are BENEFICIAL to the group/team that they are in . In the book reading (surviving antarctica) we have 5 kids going to a frozen dangerous tundra full of blizzards and crevices and below zero weather almost every day, the 5 kids names are Andrew, Polly, Robert, Billy, and Grace. Now going back to “MVPs”, in my opinion, Robert should MVP. He puts danger and leading into his hands. Here are some more reasons i think Robert should be MVP. One reason Robert should be MVP is because he usually has a plan for every situation bad or good. Robert, in many situations has an idea about what to do. Like when they made it to antarctica, he decided to just sleep for the night spite having more time left to travel, he also has to plan out his situation before going through with his action. A leader that can plan is a leader who is great, I mean who doesn't want help in survival situations like in antarctica. Robert has been in many situation so he has learned ways to stay alive and keep everybody safe. He’s shown the reader by surviving …show more content…
At the start of the book Robert is being very mean or stern to everyone else on the boat. Here is an example, Robert is seen yelling (some what) at the other kids to get them to help. In (Pg 134) he is kinda rude to andrew by calling his a “Bumbler” and is also kinda bossing them around (Pg 123). But despite him doing this it’s only because he’s is stressed out and the bossiness is all for a reason. The yelling and bossiness is because he needed to be ready for antarctica the kids weren't really preparing for the journey, without Robert they might have rushed on the final day and forget a bunch of
Roger’s character is sadistic and disrespectful which may lead to other people's pain and cause the group to separate, not allowing the island to function properly.
While his connection with animals gets stronger; his bond with humans happens to fade away. He goes on a ship with other soldiers to go fight in the war. After Harris is taken ill, Robert then has to be the one responsible for taking care of the horses on the ship. Even though having to stay with the horses is a horrible duty of a soldier because of the smell, the insects, and the rats, “[Robert] found it was a marvelous cure for seasickness” (Findley 63). He enjoyed staying with the horses to the point where he “became completely disengaged from the other life on the upper deck. He even went below off duty” (Findley 63). Robert found himself a place where he belongs and is most comfortable in on that ship; not with humans but with the horses. After Robert spends a decent time with the horses, one of them has broken its leg, and Robert is called to shoot it since he is an officer with a gun. Robert hesitates and becomes nervous, “he has never squeezed a trigger against a living creature in the whole of his life” (Findley 64). Robert starts desperately thinking of ways to avoid what he had been asked to do. He thought to himself “why couldn’t Battery Sergeant-Major Joyce do this? Hadn’t he been in the army all his life?” (Findley 64). This demonstrates that Robert strongly does not want to be the one causing
Robert Ross becomes the anti-hero because of his need of to save others but inability to do so; Robert, himself, is not aware of the fact that all he wants to do is save others because he could not save the one person he cared about, Rowena: “It wasn’t Stuart’s fault. It was Robert’s fault. Robert was her guardian and he was locked in his bedroom. Making love to his pillows.” (16) Furthermore, Robert tries to save Rowena’s rabbits: “I’ll look after them. […] I’ll take care of them. Please!!!” (18) Meanwhile, he fails again when someone else was hired to do so: “It took him thirty seconds to emerge from his pain and to realize why Teddy Budge was there.” (20) Robert unknowingly feels the need to be a savior for the people in his life, but constantly fails to do so with every attempt. Throughout the book, Robert blames himself for not being able to save Rowena or her rabbits. Another reason Robert enlists in the war is to unintentionally make up for the lack of lives he could not save in his own household.
Many people possess leadership qualities although they don’t rule a country. Meriwether Lewis, the official leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition has been called “undoubtedly the greatest pathfinder this country has ever known.” Just like Hazel, Meriwether Lewis led a group of followers into unknown territory. The two guides faced many difficult situations that they were able to overcome since they had the qualities of a notable leader. Both of the journeys were rough, but because of the brave leaders both expeditions were successful.
While ruthlessness became a clear factoring in determining the boys new character, it became even more evident that the boys identities were changing. “Soon their play turns rough and they are actually hurting Robert, hitting him too hard with their spears. Jack grabs him by the hair
In the beginning of the story everyone was coming together as a group, and was ready to work as a team. All the kids voted Ralph leader of the group because he was older and more mature, and has a clue of what to do. Jack thought he should of been voted leader because he knows how to hunt. Therefore jack turned against Ralph and became savage he started not to care for anyone besides himself and hunting jack eventually accepted being there on the island forever. While ralph was still tryna get rescued ,and jack didn't like that.
Rob Hall is a Brave climber, he is a leader in his team he is brave and kind he help his/her teammates when they can’t do something that he already did he helped his teammates when they can’t climb or need a help.
Golding uses situational irony to reveal the inner evil of all the boys on the island. Their evil is first exposed when the boys reenact a pig hunt with Robert as the pig. This is supposed to be a light hearted celebration but it becomes something much worse than it was originally intended. “The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering”(115) for the boys during the reenactment. Ralph was overcome with a desire “to get a handful of that brown, vulnerable flesh.”(114-115) This act shows that all the boys, including their leader, have inner demons that have the power to manipulate a game into an act of violence.
Seth: that guy who was a cheerleader at Palmyra High School. Seth is this amazing, caring guy who is a flawless cheerleader but is intelligent, shows courage, and is a great leader. Seth has accomplished so many things in his life involving cheerleading. It seems like he knows every single detail when it comes to cheer leading, he is never scared to do anything, no matter how risky it may be, not to mention, he really is a fantastic leader. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” -John C. Maxwell
What do you value most? Different people value different things. Some care about the money, what they have and where they live. Others value what they have accomplished in life. Other people appreciate their family. People who are polite, honorful, and trustworthy deserve the title MVP or, most valuable player. In the book Surviving Antarctica 5 teenagers, Andrew, Polly, Robert, Billy and Grace, risk their lives going to the South Pole for money. This was all put on television and people across the United States watched. Out of the five kids, one gets MVP and an extra $90,000. I believe that Andrew deserves this title because he is selfless, helpful, and sympathetic.
To be a leader, one must be able to make decisions that benefits most of their people. As a leader, you always come across problems and situations that you need to decide on. Ralph is great at making decisions that benefits the whole group and assess situations perfectly. Due to Ralph’s selflessness and dedication to his position he always makes greats decisions and assesses situations flawlessly. “Ralph was a specialist in thought now, and could recognize thought in another” (Golding 78). Under pressure and his high expectations, Ralph always makes the right decisions because he
Sarny might be looked at as a leader because she was independent and brave. Another good leader might be Delia because she was loving and caring and could nurse people into good health. Both of these characters could be good for better if they worked together more often.
First off, a hero will have good leadership. Leadership is defined by, “leading a person or a group of persons to do something”, according to Dictionary.com. Firstly, an example of a good leader would be Tom Burroughs. He is a Democrat in the Kansas State Legislature and he is the minority leader. A
But perhaps Robert’s most enduring quality is his artful pillory of those about him. When on form, his wisecracks at the expense of others can be as withering to the subject as they are amusing to everyone else. Take the incident earlier today when he asked the vicar (preacher), ‘Do you charge for taking a church service?’ ‘Not a penny’ he replied. ‘From what I saw this morning, you’ve got it spot on!’ I am convinced Robert’s personality and sense of fun resulted from the games his dad played with him as a kid. He used to throw him in the air – and walk away. Needless to say, another good thing about Robert is that he can take a joke as well as. Mind you, so can Pamela, because she's taken Robert.
The great spasms of grief eventually weakened to blubbers and sniffles. Roger and Jack had been the first to regain their composure and slowly the rest of the boys followed. Eventually, he naval officer turned back around to face the snotty faced children, “Alright, well let’s get you kids out of here.” He led the group of boys to the ship.
