Poaching is illegal hunting and it is a huge problem. Not only is it a problem but it is so bad that 2 rhinos get killed each day. Did you know that almost 14 different species get poached. Most people only know about 5 or 6 animals that get poached those animals are Elephants, Rhinoceros, Gorillas, Tigers, and Sea Turtles. The other 9 animals some people don’t know that they get poached and those 9 animals are Tibetan Antelopes, Sturgeons, PaddleFish, Porbeagle, Spiny Dogfish, Red and Pink, European Eel, Great Apes, and Blue Whales.
I know I have thought about why people poach animals. According to Why People poach Animals people do it because there is money involved, when there is money people will do anything to get that money, usually you get a certain amount of money when you get a resource from an animal. A poacher could get over $2000 for one Elephant tusk, and almost $60,000 for each kg of a Rhino horn Poaching is a billion dollar industry. Poaching is a billion dollar industry it earns a lot of money. You could basically call it a black market that is terrible. Poaching earns billions of dollars, but their are people out in the world that don’t even have a penny, and they would rather kill their self than kill an animal.

According to Poaching, officials say that illegal hunters (poachers) kill tens of millions of animals each year. Most of the poachers do not get caught or punished, and that is very disappointing because they just get away with killing an animal that did nothing to them and they are breaking the law. Poachers that hunt Rhinoceros or Elephants usually leave the useful meat and possibly even their skin can be useful. Many animals are killed each year from poaching and their resources are wasted, other people in the world could use the resources from the poached
If trophy hunters really care about conservation then why do they pay massive sums to shoot rare animals? Although trophy or as some would call it “sports” hunting, is great for entertainment, however, it is not meant to be a fun activity as trophy hunters say the use of wildlife resources is to conserve, but trophy hunting should not still be a leisure activity when endangered animals are targets. The reason why is because endangered animals are becoming more extinct less than a blink of an eye, all just for the financial income. According to the article, Can Trophy Hunting Actually Help Conservation? – Ameena Schelling, “Approximately nine out of every ten hunters said they’d be willing to hunt in places that were poor for wildlife
There’s another catch to trophy hunting: it is extremely expensive. Permits for trophy hunting usually cost thousands of dollars, which leads to the idea that killing animals can actually help conservation. This concept might seem ridiculous at first, but trophy-hunting permits bring in a plethora of money. For instance, the so-called “ten-day ‘elephant package’ could cost… 36,000 [dollars]” (learnenglish). Even if you merely wish to watch the hunt, you are obliged to pay 3,800 dollars (abcnews). The prices are strikingly high, meaning that so is the revenue. South Africa alone brings in more than 744 million dollars every single year, making it its “most profitable form of commercial land use” (learnenglish). This enormous amount of money can not only be used to aid the many third world countries in Africa, but also with conservation. Many argue that by killing wild game during hunting, it causes some species to go extinct. However, strong economic incentive has motivated landowners to expand their territories, reintroduce species, and take care of the animals in general, which would indicate the opposite: more animals are safe. One might even conclude that the world is saving animals, by killing
Animal hoarding is an issue in every division of society around the world (Donaghey 2011). Whether rich or poor, there may still be an animal hoarder living right next door (Donaghey 2011). In some situations there may be obvious signs that a person is a hoarder; however, others live seemingly regular lives to the public eye and the problem is growing. Animal hoarding is a growing problem because of the lack of understanding of the issue and lack of action.
Hunting is the intentional act of tracking and killing wild animals while poaching is the illegal harvesting of game or fish. The pursue of animals has developed from being a necessity for survival to violent murders of prey creating an indisputable brutality towards countless species of wildlife for sport or monetary gain. Poaching and hunting for sport are vicious acts of savagery that must be terminated to save the extinction of many wildlife animals and the selling of animal body parts in the black market.
At the same time, humans can use these resources for the good of the environment. According to the suggestions of Ed Pitt, humans can “Stop killing so many game animals. Shorten and restrict hunting seasons. Reduce hunting areas. Reduce access. All ATVs should be restricted to private property. More animals die on our highways and railroads than are killed by wolves. Reduce speed limits. Our wildlife protection and law enforcement is ridiculously understaffed and underfunded. Do something about that. Poaching is an ongoing and mostly unpunished crime. All of our planet's diverse and beautiful wildlife is being pushed into extinction.” There is so much we can do to help instead of hurt
Hunting centuries ago was a cruel way of survival for humans but now it's no more than a violent form of recreation. Hunters should only hunt if they need it for sustenance which most
Hunting is a tradition in America. Our ancestors hunted to survive. Today we don’t necessarily do it to survive but we do eat the meat and enjoy the hunt. It gives us time to bond with our friends and or family. Also, if the hunting industry was stopped a lot of people would lose a way to make a living. My mom’s best friend and her father own a 20,000 acre game ranch in Rock Springs, Texas. People go out there for every different hunting season. They come from all over the world and pay money for every animal they take off the property. White tail bucks cost the seasonal hunter $1,500; does are $1000. Exotic animals range in price and may be hunted year round.
How would you like it if you were used in an experiment to see if the mascara your girlfreind used was safe? And then when they were done with you, they disposed of you and killed you off as if you didn’t matter. Well that’s what is being done to animals. They are being tested on. Sometimes scientist give animals radioactive material to eat to see how fast they die. If you know that the animal is going to die, why would you do something so inhumane for no apperant reason?
Animal-rights advocates say the rule would make it easier to shut down unscrupulous commercial operations that confine breeding females at length, depriving them of food, water and veterinary care and leaving them outdoors to freeze in the winter and roast in the summer as they give birth to litter after litter of profitable pups- (Chebium). Animals don’t have a voice; people have to be the voice for them. Animals have no way to help themselves because people make them do what people want them to. They cannot talk back to say that they do not like or want to do what people make them do, people have to go off on what is right. Animals are living creatures they need food, water, and to be taken care of or they could die. People take advantage of animals because people look at them and think since they are not human their lives are not important. When we think they are not worth anything people start neglecting animals.
Elephants are an endangered species and they should not be killed for their ivory or they will become extinct. In the article The Poaching Problem the author writes” elephant populations have declined to dangerously low levels.” At the rate that poachers are killing these innocent animal the entire species of elephants will be extinct in the year 2030! That is only twenty five years, I know that does not seem like a long time but it is going to go by fast and every one will regret killing all those poor innocent gentle creatures. In case study 483 they author writes “ During the 1970s and 1980s elephant poaching had included about 1.3 million elephants killed for their tusks.” It is hard to distinguish between legal and illegal ivory so it is sold easily.
For every wildlife animal legally hunted another is killed illegally; this is called poaching. The people who commit the type of crime such as that of hunting illegally are known as poachers. The worst part about this crime is that it is committed where no one can see or know what is happening. The motive of poachers can vary from wanting a trophy or pointlessly killing animals to harvesting a profit from ivories, horns, or antlers. If this environmental problem of poaching continues, then many species will either become endangered or extinct. This has been an ongoing problem for many years now and there have been many efforts to stop or catch poachers. There are various solutions that have been tried and tested but the latest and most effective solutions have yet to be explained.
Poaching is only one of the leading causes for animals being on the endangered species, so with all these poachers we need to protect the animals more closely. Animals that are close to extinction need to be placed into a zoo or sanctuary so they can flourish. People need to do this for the animals, they may not like it but it helps get their numbers up.
Some try to stop it and set up accounts for donations to ''save the wildlife''. Such as ''save the elephants, in Kenya. Their goal is to stop hunters from killing elephants for their tusks and skin. The organization raises money for researches and studies. "Save the elephants" as been around since about twenty-three Many organizations like this one try to stop hunting.
Although it may not seem saving or protecting endangered animals is important, it actually and truly is important because animals around the world are being killed for wildlife market goods which is illegal and destroys the species population in that environment. Citizens should take more concern with taking care of these endangered animals before they become totally extinct and will no longer be seen on the face of the earth. Recently researchers have found that poachers (hunters who hunt animals for their value with trading illegal merchandise) are killing thousands of animals a day, and they are doing so even to this day. These species should be treated with more responsibility and care. They are even being killed by human interactions
Due to lack of the lack of management and resources in the conservation programs has led to a further increase in poaching which has triggered to drastic decline in elephant populations. According to the Huffington post, a reputable news source, it reports, “an estimated 22,000 elephants were illegally killed across Africa in 2012”. In February alone there were as many as “650 elephants killed in a matter of days” If the elephant death continues at such a rapid rate it could lead to their demise. “Elephant poaching could wipe out 20 percent of African population in [the] next decade” (Huffington Post). An extinction in elephants would mean the possibly of many other species becoming endangered of going extinct as well.
