Why Lacrosse Is Important

The activity that has been influential in my life is lacrosse. Lacrosse has been important in my life because it teaches leadership, scholarship, and character. I started playing lacrosse in fifth grade and have played youth lacrosse, box lacrosse, and I am going to play lacrosse at the modified level. While lacrosse is fun to play, it also makes me a better person, on and off the field. Lacrosse has been instrumental in developing my leadership skills. One thing that shows that lacrosse has been beneficial in developing my leadership skills is stepping in when a player is injured. Another reason is to keep the team's spirits up when we are losing. Beyond leadership, lacrosse has taught me character. For example, lacrosse has developed in my character because you have to try hard in practice to be good in games and still give 100% in situations even when you are losing. Another thing that has helped develop my character is making sure I am on time and having good attendance. In addition, not taking feedback negatively from coaches and using it to improve and learn. Another thing that has been beneficial in developing character is trying hard in conditioning because even though some days can be hard, you know that you have to keep trying and not give up. The final thing that helps develop character is practicing on your own time. Practicing on your own time helps develop character because it involves you making sure that you practice. Building character is crucial because it teaches you to keep getting better and to keep your head up whether you are losing in a sports game or when you find out bad news.
