Why Is It Ethical To Hire Individuals With Disabilities

There is a portion of my judgement where I should value the company’s opinion about avoiding hiring individuals with disabilities, but ethically I know that I would not be able to comply with such a shameful suggestion. I personally to not have the ability to comply with this kind of direction due the fact that it is not ethical to assume that someone with a disability does not have the same amount of work ethic than any other type of functioning individual. The organization should only want the person that will be able to complete the tasks of the job at the most efficient level. The individual that should be hired is the person that has the most knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete the requirements of the job. The facts are simple when looking through applicants based off resumes there is no way to know who has a disability and who does not, hence at this stage each applicant will not be seen till the a group is selected for the interview process. I firmly believe that when searching for a person to fulfill a position that individual needs to be the one that contribute the most to the organization. To me it sounds like a person that is given a chance in a company despite their disabilities would have a tremendous sense of what hard work is, hence that individual would try to do more than expected of them to prove that the chance they were given was not for nothing. The only way that I can see a manager knowingly being able to say that the average applicant would be a better choice in comparison to the highly qualified disabled applicant is if that manager had a magic crystal ball that could see into the future. Other than those reasons that I have already listed it is very illegal to discriminate against this type of person. There are many laws that people have fought very hard to get passes for this
