Discrimination against disabled has increased over the years; this is giving to the fact that many of the disabled have physical or mental appearances. Infanticide was widespread among technologically less developed societies, especially for the physically or mentally impaired. We all notice disabilities, whether we admit to it or not we know that they have some kind of disability while speaking to them or what is visible. Nevertheless, we discriminate against the disabled because when we see them we instantly make assumptions that they are physically impaired. A person may be disabled if he or she has a physical or mental condition that substantially limits a major life activity (walking, talking, seeing, hearing, or learning). In school they do this by becoming their friend then they make them do things they don't want to do. Tiffany says “And another trend that’s incredibly stressing is “mate hate,” where a very evil kid, or typically several kids, pretend to be friends with someone with a disability only to abuse them in some heinous manner once they gain their trust…………. Another situation can also be shown inmovies, “ The film follows the life of Paul, an adult with a developmental disability who’s misunderstood by his community (a major cause of hate crimes). They end up not understanding his “quirks,” and judge him harshly to the point of abuse.” (Carlson. Paragraph 3). This adult was abused because of his disability, this happens in America everyday. This abuse happens in adults and children because of the discrimination against the disabled. It can start off in schools and then even as an adult. Though most people discriminate but don’t mean to, it is an act that happens because they often don’t think about it. Discrimination has been in America for years, in books, in films, and in life. When both of the causes and effects of discrimination are put together, they still make discrimination because people are not thinking when they build buildings or when they hire a certain person. The able-bodied already made up in their minds that any disabled person they see is unable to help themselves. Not thinking they are already willing to help. This discrimination causes most disabled people to feel helpless; This is the right thinking but not all disabled individuals need help. They are turned away from jobs they could physically do, and they are turned away because of their physical appearance.
