In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the major and probably most important theme is doubt. Doubt plays a major role in the whole plot. It is the driving force of the whole play. Key characters experiences or has doubts at some point throughout the play. We can also infer that it affects actions and events in the play. As the play began, the questions began. The play begins with the line ‘who’s there?’ and this specific line has a tone of quandary that lingers throughout the course of the play.
