So here I am headed towards the end of my very first term of college. I finally did it, I got up the guts to take this leap and I am very happy I did. It took me several years of contemplating this decision before finally taking the plunge. I had a lot to consider before doing this such as affordability, do I have enough time in my life, and will I be able to stay motivated to successfully graduate. After thinking long and hard about these questions, I realized that the answer to all of them was simple. If I want it to work, I will do whatever it takes to make it. I had to think about what was motivating me to consider going back to school and these motivations are why I am here today. Although there were many things that motivated me to go to college, it really came down to a few important reasons - wanting to be able to further my career, …show more content…
Over the past 11 years I have been able to see how it is getting much harder to advance without a degree. I know that by the time my children are old enough to go out into the world, a degree will be a necessity. My children have not seen family members attend college so they do not realize what benefits a degree can have. I want to set a good example for them by working extremely hard to obtain my degree so they can see just how important it really is. I am truly hoping that they will be inspired by the fact that even at the age of 30 I decided to go to college to better our lives and make it so I could make this family be as successful as possible. I hope this shows them that when you want something, you will work as hard as you can to get it and that without a degree, you can only get so far. If they see this I believe they will be able to make the right decision out of high school and choose to go on to get their degree either directly through attending college or through the
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I truly just want to get the best education and job for myself worth and make myself happy.
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." This is my all-time favorite quote. It is my motivation when the skies around me become cloudy. It is the fuel that feeds my ever-growing hunger to dance. Living by this motto will help me achieve my goal of becoming not just a professional dancer, but also an inspiration to others. My strong extracurricular background provides for a solid base, serving as a great steppingstone as I reach closer and closer to making my dream a reality.
One day while folding clothes, I saw a commercial sponsored by the President Barack Obama Ad Campaign that encouraged stay- at- home mothers and single mothers to go back to school to get their college degrees. President Obama is specifically assisting moms to go back to college by increasing federal stimulus monies as well as financial aid. Right then and there, I decided to go back to school to further my education and increase my chances of starting a career in the field I would be trained in. I wanted to be able to earn more than minimum wage in this already stressed job market. My decision to go back to school was not an easy decision. For the last seven years, I have been a stay- at- home mother and during that time I have often thought about going back to school and earning a degree. But, whenever the thought of going back to school crossed my mind I would feel as though I was neglecting my duties as a wife and mother. I also suffered from a paralyzing fear of failure that has always kept me from pursuing the possibilities of obtaining a higher education. After much prayer and discussion with my family, I finally made the decision to move forward with my plans to obtain a college education.
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
It wasn’t until my senior year of high school when I realized the true importance of going to college really was. The only reason I excelled in my studies was because I was always motivated too, so when it came down to my decision to continue school I didn’t know what to do. I decided that even with a degree in today’s economy, it won’t have much of an impact. But I couldn’t have been more wrong than ever. I eventually came to my own senses and decided for myself that all my years of being in school, planning for my future, long hours of hard work and perseverance shouldn’t go to waste.
My entire life I always thought I would never go to college because I hated going to school every day. My school life was not ideal, it was full of people treating me like I am less of a person than everyone else. Little did I know that my now 2 year old would change my entire outlook on getting my degree and planning a career for myself. Colton, my son, has given me a reason to see a future in health care administration and to go back to school to obtain my goals as a clinical manager.
Education has always been an important part of my family. My mother being a school teacher has always encouraged me to continue my education after high school by going to college. I feel I have always made academics a priority in my life. My hopes are that by continuing my education through college, I can recieve a career where I benefit both my community and my family. After graduating I plan to attend Tennessee Technology University in the fall of 2017.
As the end of my senior year in high school approached, I had to make an important decision. What school was I going to spend the next few years of my life at? When the financial aid packages arrived, I was torn between two colleges. After sitting down with my mother and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of both schools, I came to my final decision. It seemed like a year ago I was imagining what college life would be like and suddenly before my eyes, I would be a college student in a matter of four months.
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.

It is 2am and you wish you had more time for sleeping. You have had a long day between school and work. Probably tired and overwhelm of all the homework that you have to turn in this week. Sometimes you may ask your self the question, “Is it worth the effort I am making to go to college?” I am sure that some of you have had those days were you wish you can stay at home watching TV, playing video games, sleeping, and not worrying about studying for a test. How many of you have felt this way at least once this semester? Turn around, as you can see you are not the only person that feels the same way. However, I will like to tell you the reasons why you should graduate from college. Today, I will talk about the knowledge you get from going
Many years ago I remember my parents telling me that in order for me to become successful a college education was a must. They always told me that if I wasn’t in school I could no longer live at home. Both of my parents attended college but neither of them finished. They did not want me to go down that same road because they really regret not getting their degrees.
In today’s society, there is a variety of things an individual is able to do in order to accomplish their goals; however, there comes a time in someone’s life that there is a brick wall, preventing them from moving forward, which brings me to my case, this wall is the funds I need in order to obtain my bachelor's degree. Coming from a household that there is only one individual who works and supports a group out of four can cause difficulties for the student who lives within the group for the reason being, the student would not be able to receive enough financial aid or any contribution from their family themselves. With this being said, this will delay the process from graduating on time. I am inspired to education in which one can see this through my GPA in High School and College; in addition, I am devoted to taking multiple of courses during the same semester to which it can lead to me obtaining my degree in a vapid manner as I did with my Associates of Arts
Many reasons convinced me to pursue a graduate level degree in social work. First the standard of education has greatly increased in the field of social work, especially regarding social work in the healthcare field. The majority of jobs in healthcare require a graduate degree, especially in my town of Kamloops, British Columbia. I hope to do case management in healthcare and most of my colleagues stated I most likely wouldn’t be a candidate for this position if I do not have a graduate level education. Furthermore, I have invested my time in a career I hope to continue for the rest of my life and this being said I want to have options and flexibility of opportunities in the field of social work. Considering social services offers such a vast array of services, it’s in my best interest to allow myself the most exposure to opportunity and earning a graduate level degree will allow this to occur.
