Why do you want to become a trustee?
My parents believed strongly in public service, and they encouraged my siblings and me to participate fully in our community. Over the years I have devoted time and effort to the Town by volunteering in the local schools, the Boy Scouts, and participation in Town Government. Public service benefits the individual as well as the public, and I hope to continue that service as a member of the Acton Memorial Library Board of Trustees.
In the early phase of the library renovation, I fondly remember taking our youngest son to put our names the concrete columns of the old building before new construction began. Project management principles that I would bring to the board include ensuring that all stakeholders are appropriately engaged, and organizing strategic objectives into manageable tasks.
My career at Hewlett Packard provides me with the opportunity to travel all around the world and experience diverse cultures. I believe that part of the mission of the Acton Memorial Library is to serve and unite the many cultures that compose our Acton community. I hope to play a role in enhancing the library’s offerings to our community through programs, outreach, and education.
Previously, I served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, including a term as Chairman. This experience was very satisfying, as it allowed me to connect with fellow citizens while ensuring the bylaws of the Town were upheld. My work with the ZBA involved extensive engagement with other Town boards and officials, providing valuable insight into the administration of the Town as a whole. In my time with the ZBA, I also became well acquainted with the Massachusetts Open Meeting
