A registered nurse, a professional nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and has obtained a nursing license, it is a career I wish to pursue for the assisting of others, interaction with new patients, and the ability to learn new things. I have been wanting to pursue this career for about three years now. The thought of helping others and bringing a positive attitude into someone's life has made me very interested in this career. Registered Nursing will not only make me more familiar in the medical field, but will also allow me to help others anyway I can. Going into the nursing program will fulfill my dreams of becoming a registered nurse. Registered Nurses have many responsibilities. They work with many sick patients that vary in age. To begin, registered nurses are in charge of providing patients with treatments and medications. Also, registered nurses are responsible for recording patients medical information, vital signs, and progress. Without accurate records patients may be given the wrong treatment. Finally, registered nurses are responsible for examining patients and making sure proper nursing care is provided (“Task List” 1). While registered nurses are responsible for many other tasks, these three areas of nursing is the most important. Patients must be treated in a correct manner, and should feel protected while spending time in …show more content…
As a registered nurse I will be exposed to many different diseases and infections. Also, I may be on call and will have to maintain an open schedule. Finally, I will need to be prepared to be put in conflict situations (“Working Conditions” 1). I do not like the idea of an “open” schedule. It will be very difficult to maintain an open schedule but I will make it work for the health of my patience. There will be many situations that will cause me concern, but I need to do my job and give my patience the best
I have chosen the nursing profession because, I care deeply for others and their well-being. When individuals enter any health care setting such as a hospital, doctor’s office, clinic, or nursing home they are there because some type of injury or illness is occurring. After checking in at the reception desk, in most of these circumstances, the patient explains his or her ailments firstly to a nurse. The nurse must be able to accurately obtain and record vital signs, while paying close attention to the objective symptom’s the patient is displaying, as well as listening carefully to the subjective symptom’s the patient is experiencing. Also, it is essential that the nurse be able to properly record this information for the medical chart and the Doctor. The role of a nurse is very important and requires extreme sacrifice, hard work, and long hours. In addition, it is paramount that a nurse display professionalism in their attitude, dress, speech, and conduct. Nurses have the obligation of performing their job duties at all times, and have knowledge of their nursing training.
Becoming a Registered Nurse, or an RN, has always been a dream for me. I grew up learning all about the career from my mother, a nurse herself. From an early age, I knew I wanted to help people and make a difference in someone’s life. Now that I am in college, I am learning so much more about the career and how to actually become a nurse. Nurses are such an important part of the medical field. Some say they even do more than doctors. It is an extremely hard career because a nurse must demonstrate many different unique skills, be able to work in many different work environments, handle stress the right way, and know that many lives hang in their hands. It is a hard, but vital job. I know that I look up to and respect all nurses, and I hope that one day I can become one as well.
Growing up, I did not want to become “just a nurse”. My mom and most of my friends’ moms were or are nurses. Nursing never seemed special to me because I was surrounded by nurses. I wanted to be different. I wanted to become a physician or physician assistant until I started applying to college. I had an epiphany while filling out my college applications, that I had no idea exactly what I wanted to be. All I knew was that I wanted to be in health care. I thought long and hard and put a more realistic and practical major down, nursing. Now here I am, almost done with my freshman year of college and still am a Pre-Nursing/Nursing major. There are many reasons why I aspire to
Christina Feist-Heilmeier, RN, beautifully explains what all nurses feel when they are called to their career: “Every nurse was drawn to nursing because of a desire to care, to serve, or to help." I deeply relate to her statement. The idea that I could change somebody’s life is incredibly enticing. Nursing is not easy, but it is not made to be. It is a hard path to follow, but the outcome is beautiful. It is messy, unglamorous, emotionally draining, but it is worth it. The branch of medicine I want to enter handles surgeries on a daily basis. Since I am a natural caregiver, I have decided to set on a path to become a nurse, beginning my education at Germanna, and hopefully transferring to UVA to finish my education. Becoming a nurse will
A registered nurse (RN) practises self-sufficiently and in partnership with other health professionals such as enrolled nurses, health care assistances, doctors and surgeons etc. Registered nurses carry out general nursing tasks, delegate to and direct any health care assistants or enrolled nurses working alongside them. They deliver complete assessments to develop, implement, and estimate an assimilated plan of health care, also a RN provides mediations that involve extensive scientific and qualified knowledge, skills and clinical decision making. They organise this in a variety of surroundings in corporation with individuals, the families and the communities. Registered nurses (RN) are able to practise in a wide range of clinical frameworks, all depending on their scope of practise. All nurses have a scope of practise subject to their qualifications and knowledge. RN’s are to care for patients and encourage health and illness prevention. Some of the roles a nurse will come across are caregiving, teaching, communicating and managing. It is part of the RN’s role to educate patients about their healthcare in an equitable manner (N...
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
I wish to study this program because I have a strong interest in nursing. I really like the idea of helping people, and I thought what better way to help people than by directly helping them. I think I will feel a strong sense of accomplishment if I see that the patient is getting better each and every day. I want a career where I will enjoy going to work every day and I think becoming a nurse would fulfil that. My decision to apply to this program was influenced by a series of events. As I am a Ryerson student, I have come across many nursing students. I was inspired by their stories and experiences with the nursing program. Although all of them said studying nursing was very hard, I did not mind because I thought it would be worth it if you enjoy what you are studying. But, they also told me the great parts about the nursing program like having clinical
I was always interested in pursuing a career in nursing because of my tremendous fascination with the medical field. My goal is to work in various different fields in the hospital to increase my skills. I started my education during my senior year and ever since, I have been taking the courses that will lead me to my goal. The human body always interested me because of the complexity of the physiology of each individual part. As a result of my strong desire of the medical field, I wanted to be the first person in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a specific area, where there is also room for growth. My career goal is eventually returning to school after being a nurse for several years to become a nurse practitioner.
The career I chose to pursue is to be a registered nurse. Being a registered nurse comes with great responsibilities and leadership, because I see myself as a leader. I have gone through many situations that include leadership. Nurses working in any setting must possess excellent communication, decision-making, teamwork, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills (Heinrich, Anna).
Having 12 years’ experience as a care assistant has given me the knowledge, determination and the ability to live my life long dream of becoming a nurse. The nursing role is one of the most challenging, tough yet rewarding role in the healthcare settings. A good nurse has good communication, shows dedication, works as part as team showing compassion and empathy when facing challenging situations.
Registered nurses is a job for those who care, helping out those that are injured. It is really important to have nurses who are like that. Many human beings don’t know when they would have to be visiting a hospital. Only about hundreds of people are nurses out of seven billion which is a huge problem to everyone. These nurses are expected to evaluate and record patient symptoms, and their main concerns is helping the doctor(s) (What you’ll do as an RN).
Why did I choose nursing as a career? I chose nursing as my career choice because I love the idea of helping others and doing what I can to provide them with what they need. I also choose nursing as my career choice because I am interested in learning new things and using them in a social aspect. I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I always loved taking care of other people. I really went head over heels onto this career path when I was a freshman in high school. I started on this path when my mother fell sick and was in the hospital for six months when I was fifteen years old and the doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her. Finally after six months my mom’s obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) doctor diagnosed her with chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS). From that moment on I decided I was going to push forward and pursue a career in nursing. In eleventh grade I started taking medical course. By the time I graduated high school I was a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Since high school I have been trying to get into nursing school
An unknown author once stated, “Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes it meaningful.” Like many people, my life is far from perfect. I have stumbled across several hardships, but the goals I have set for myself are very prestigious. Since I was young enough to gain an understanding about helping others, I realized how passionate and sensitive I was about the well-being of others. To that point, compassion and empathy have been two of the main factors that have continually influenced my decision to pursue a career in healthcare.

There were several reasons why I chose to purse a future career in nursing and to eventually become a Nurse Practitioner. One of the first reasons were because one of my aunts were a nurse and is now a Nurse Practitioner. Another reason is that I used to go on the Internet and look up what it was like to be a nurse. I also watch a lot of medical shows and surgery shows and the medical field has always intrigued me. Another reason is when I took a Health Science class my senior year of high school, that class really made me want to go out and purse my lifelong dream to become a nurse or a Nurse Practitioner.
