The career I chose to pursue is to be a registered nurse. Being a registered nurse comes with great responsibilities and leadership, because I see myself as a leader. I have gone through many situations that include leadership. Nurses working in any setting must possess excellent communication, decision-making, teamwork, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills (Heinrich, Anna). When I was a young child I wanted to do things like taking control when kids were injured. I was always there helping when a classmate was injured. That’s when I knew I was going to get a career in the medical field. I talked to my parents about what I wanted to do when I was in eighth grade. I told them that I wanted to be a registered nurse and they said it was going to be very strenuous. They always told me to work hard in school and never give up on my dreams. I am focusing on advancing my public speaking skills. To do this I have to learn to not fear rejection and to be organized and prepare extensively. Secondly, I would like to pursue my bachelor’s degree of science in nursing. In order to do that I have to work hard, study every day, and not procrastinate.
