“Semper Fi” Protecting the country may be one of the most important jobs a person can have. The United States Marine Corporations is just that. Putting your own life on the line for the sake of your homeland is a mighty task that many proud men and women aspire to do. This day and age we have more reason to need protection than ever. With recent and previous terrorist attacks on our country we are blessed to have these brave men and women protecting our country. What exactly does it take to be a Marine? Courage, Sacrifice, and Strength. Courage is the commitment to do above and beyond for the sake of your country. It requires you to be as brave as humanly possible and letting nothing stand in the way of freedom. The Marines do not guarantee your safety. They basically give you the form to sign your life away. Nobody likes the idea of leaving people you care deeply for behind for the sake of war. It makes life for Army families with children rough. But as a Marine, you have to focus more on protecting your country than your loved ones or let alone your own life. These are just a small amount of sacrifices that are made when being a Marine. Physical sacrifice is another one that you MUST commit to! A Marine needs to be fit to his highest potential to operate in high pressure situations that war induces. The training to become a Marine is one of the toughest training the human body can endure. Protecting the country is one of the toughest and most hands on job available in the country. A recruit only earns $1,645 per month upon completion of basic training.
