Courage is a necessity to overcome fears and achieve a desired goal. Fear is something that exists in all of us. There is no hero or any particular courageous figure that is without fear. Being fearless is not required to be courageous, one just has to look past it or overcome their fears to gain courage. When overcoming fears and going against normality, there are always risks involved. Someone could risk their life or getting hurt, while others risk their reputation. Either risk is serious enough that a person must have courage to endure that particular risk. Just like when Odysseus faced the Cyclops to save him and his men. Without courage, African Americans would still be stuck in slavery. You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along. I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave one is not who does not feel afraid, but who conquers that fear. Have the courage to say no. Courage is the only thing that gets us through the hard times, and the tempting opportunities. Courage is vital to the evolution of the human population. It is also an essential quality to becoming a successful person. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. Over the years, intelligence has grown in mankind. It prospers and spreads through the innovations of ideas and inventions every day within our world. Just like the innovations are continuously altered, as is the meaning of intelligence. Some people define intelligence different than what is usually understood as

Everyone is born with some form of courage. The question is, in their lifetime, will they choose to use it and grow from it? People can be courageous in many different situations and through multiple types of courage. In To Kill A Mockingbird, the author, Harper Lee, values standing up for what is right as being the most important category of courage. Harper Lee displays acts of courage through the characters when Atticus defends Tom Robinson, Scout and Jem choose not to show their anger through violence, and town’s people stand up for Tom and Atticus; thus showing that the author believes that standing up for what is right is the most valuable attribute of courage.
To me having courage makes me feel stronger than ever. Courage is one of the things that helped me join NJROTC, and it helps me get through the days. One of the best explanations of courage is the following by Maya Angelou: “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtues with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” Her explanation summarizes all that courage can lead you to who you are in life. Courage is standing up for what you believe in, despite disapproval, pain, fear, uncertainty, or intimidation. Courage is challenging what is normal. Courage is giving voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Courage is using whatever power available to educate the world about injustice. Courage is following your heart even when the path is not known. Courage is trying after failing.
But this isn’t the definition of courage. Courage is being able to act in the face of danger or in an uncomfortable state. Being stubborn and brash is the exact opposite, as someone acting as such may danger others and/or may be comfortable by standing alone. A prime example is shown in 12 Angry Men, as Juror 8 and Juror 3 represent courage and arrogance. At one time in the film, they both stand alone against a room full of people thinking against them, but how they act to it makes them who they are. Unlike how Juror 8 sways others individually, Juror 3 refused to act politely and focuses on himself, making others not appreciate him and seeing him as a barrier to
Displaying acts of courage has the aptitude to make immense alteration to one’s personal integrity. Courage is seen as a virtue, and is a constantly repeated choice. The presence of courage is paramount to the actions of the characters throughout Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. “I wish none of this had happened.” (Frodo, LOTR:FOTR, Jackson), “So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” (Gandalf, LOTR:FOTR, Jackson). This moment which occurs early in the first film, elucidates the way courage is implemented throughout the films, where it must be found within the individual to consummate both colossal and trivial feats. The significance
“It’s such a complicated subject, it’s hard to know what to say. It’s easy to break down courage into categories.
People look up to men who have courage because they can rely on them to stay strong and brave in spite of danger or difficulty. “We felt pressure on our hearts, in dread of that deep rumble and that mighty man, but all the same I spoke up in reply.” Odysseus in the Odyssey expresses courage by answering to the enormous, frightening cyclops even when he and his men knew that they were caught up in a dangerous situation.
Courage is a state of mind that enables a person to overcome fear, pain, danger, or hardship. Although different from one another, all aspects of courage involve taking risks.
First of all, courage reminds me when I do anything in my life. Everyone will have a fear. A brave man can overcome the fear. See an inspirational story: the boss hiring employees. There are three people to apply for remembering someone told me a story about bravery. Courage means you need brave and never afraid of anything when did it. The boss said to the first applicant. Have a glass corridor. You put it with his fists smash. Candidates performed. Glad it's not a piece of glass.
What is courage? Courage is the spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, and bravery. Courage to me is bravery, heroic acts, and people that put their life in danger. Many people show acts of courage everyday in the world. You might not know if you are showing courage, unless it is a big act.
“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest.” (Maya Angelou, unknown). Courage, beyond all, has to be one of the most valued characteristics in existence.
Courage helps keep the confidence going because if they were to make it to the top they will not want to know they did it with help they want to share and know that the accomplished it by themselves. ”Courage is what keeps you going from giving up” Maya Angelou. Meaning that the individual that is doing something has to do something that you don't want to do alone because you are scared to fail so you keep trying and trying to overcome that. That fits right in this section because you need the confidence in yourself so that you won't be scared to fail so you try to avoid the failure. You need to be able to feel like you can make it
Courage permits one to face extreme dangers and difficulties without fear. Courage is having the capacity to face your own internal doubts. Courage is classified into two types: the ability to face physical danger, and the ability to face emotional hardships. In his philosophical novel, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the German Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche emphasized the importance of courage. “War and courage have done more great things than charity. Not your sympathy, but your bravery has thus far saved the victims,” he says (Nietzsche. 42). Since any change in life requires action, it is courage that turns visions into reality. Moreover, it is a prerequisite for all other virtues, because without the courage to live according to someone’s own standards, the implementation of other virtues would be impossible. Some people think that courage is having the ability to do shameful things, but that is not actually the case. It is courage that is necessary for living in integrity. Moreover, courage is necessary for the society as a whole, and one of its qualities is contagiousness. For example, all great revolutions in history
