Recommended: What are the effects of animal testing
When it comes to science many experiments have to be tested before they are can actually be used in the real word . What some don’t is how the experiments are conducted and who the experiments are conducted on. These experiments are tested on various animals and not on humans , and I believe that it is unfair to the animals. The reason why animal testing is considered to be wrong is because all testing is said to be wasteful, it is a waste of time to the scientist as well as a waste of money. Most experiments that have to be tested first have to be approved before anything can happen, with that being said most of the experiments that are conducted. “of over 1000 stroke treatments that have been successful in animal test, only approximately
Animals should not be used as test subjects for any research. The innocent and helpless animals’ rights are being violated when they are involved during animal experimentation. These unfortunate animals do not have a choice whether or not they want to be involved in testing. They are not intended for people to experiment on for their own selfish reasons. It is not right to take advantage of the animals because they are helpless and cannot protect themselves. Animals and humans have similarities; they both behave, feel, think, and experience pain. Therefore, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. The pain and suffering an animal is forced to endure is not worth any new product. It is cruel and inhumane to take advantage of an innocent animal. These tests that use animals to ensure the safety of products are extremely common without people even knowing about it. It is not fair to these animals to abuse their beauty. They are helpless and cannot control what is happening to them. Animal experimentation should be stopped because it violates the rights of animals and harms or even kills the animals.
“According to Humane Society International, animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and "killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means.”(Peta). Have you ever wondered if a product you own was safe to use? Did you know that millions of animals are tested on each year for the daily products you use? According to Peta, around 26 million animals are tested each year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. Animals are used to develop medical treatments, determine the toxicity of medications, check the safety of products destined for human use, and other biomedical, commercial, and healthcare uses (Peta). Animals are harmed or sometimes even killed in this process. Animals are not the same as humans, therefore; the testing done on Animals is not helping our human society, it’s hurting the animals. There are alternative ways to performing testing rather than testing on animals.
Another reason animal testing does not make sense is because we have alternative ways of testing. There are many new ways of testing besides testing on animals. By doing these other types of tests, people can save animals from pain and save their lives. In the article, “Alternative Testing” stated, “some new ways of testing could include ways like using tests on cells, using tests on types of tissues, and using tests on computer stimulations” (Howard). The article, “Ban Animal Testing” stated, “that an alternative method of testing is in vitro studies, which are cells used to test properties of drugs and tissues can also be used to test products and reactions from drugs as well” (Stachura). Some would argue to say that these alternative tests
It is estimated that each year, over 100 million animals-including mammals, birds, fish, and amphibians-are killed in U.S. laboratories for various testings, according to PETA.org. Americans should reconsider their usage of animal testing due to the fact that humans have an improper advantage to animals. Organizations such as PETA, do whatever possible to protect the rights animals have. Due to such organizations, there have been more reasons to find ways to no longer find the need to test on animals. Animal testing is unfair to animals due to the subjection of unconsenting pain to when used for medical experimentation.
Each year millions of animals around the world are being killed and tormented for tests
It should be noted that, animals are metabolically, physiologically, and anatomically unlike from human beings, hence, the tests working on animals can surely prove to be unsuccessful in human beings (Animal Experimentation). Animals react very differently compared to human beings, and therefore, tests done on animals can be hazardous when done on human beings. In addition, even though humans and animals share a number of biological traits, they have biological differences and this is enough reason to question the data obtained from animal experiments and is to be used on humans. It is very wrong to subject animals to cruel procedures in the name of promoting the future human health and this denies them a normal life, yet they are at liberty to yet there is no prove that these tests can work well on human beings. For example, guinea pigs are used in animal experimentation, yet a guinea pig and a human being react very differently to some drugs, for instance penicillin is toxic to a guinea pig, and a cure to human beings. This proves that, any test done on a guinea pig will automatically be unsafe for human beings. Another example is that, drugs that are effective on dogs, or other animals can fail to be effective on human beings. Therefore, it is important to note that, animal testing has its
Medical testing on animals is considered animal cruelty and is unnecessary. "Many animals are used in scientific and medical research. They often undergo cruel methods of testing and suffer greatly as a result." (Animal Experimentation: Cruel and Unnecessary) Opponents of animal testing say that it is cruel and inhumane to experiment on animals, that alternative methods available to researchers can replace animal testing, and that animals are so different from human beings that reserch on animals often yields irrelevant results. Innocent animals are tested on every year. Some are experimented on and are then killed after their use, while others, are kept alive and are kept in captivity. In more than 1,000 laboratories across the country, monkeys are addicted to drugs, cats are deafened and have holes drilled into their skulls, sheep and pigs have their skin burned off, and rats have their spinal cords crushed. Tiny mice are made to grow tumors, nearly as big as their own bodies, kittens are purposely blinded and rats are made to suffer seizures. Dogs are intentionally poised with experimented drugs, chimpanzees are infected with debilitating diseases and rabbits have grotesque devices implan...
Throughout history, animal testing has played an important role in leading to new discoveries and human benefit. However, what many people forget are the great numbers of animals that have suffered serious harm during the process of animal testing. Animal testing is the use of animals in biological, medical, and psychological studies. The development and enhancement of medical research has been based on the testing of animals. There are many questions being asked if animal research is good or not or if the benefit for us is way greater the abuse of animals. Doing tests on animals can help find ways to cure diseases, but testing on them is wrong. Although we want to find cures for diseases to help many people, testing on animals not only brutally hurts them but it also denies the animals the rights they have.
Picture yourself in a testing laboratory; needles, drugs, and knives pointed in your direction with you having no idea what’s going on around you, this is how animals everyday are treated, we have to stop this now! Millions of animals are killed in laboratories everyday with no chance to object to what the testers are about to do to them. Animals feel as much pain as humans do so why does it make it okay to test on them when they are so alike to humans? Every day people test makeup, shampoos, and medicines on animals, the strange thing is that animals have different skin, hair, and internal organs than humans have. Since the animals have different internal organs than humans only 5-25% of the testing results are agreeable between animals and humans. Humans don’t allow animals to have the right to say that they don’t want to be tested on, but humans have the rights to say they do or do not want to be tested on. There are many non-animal alternatives that humans can use to test products, but many testers refuse to use them. Do you think that these animals enjoy being tested on?! Animals are being tormented everyday in laboratories, animal testing must stop!
Animal testing is the use of non-human animals for scientific experimentation. There are estimates that 50 to 100 million vertebrate animals worldwide from zebra fish to on-human primates are used annually. Much larger numbers of invertebrates are used even flies and worms are used has model organisms are very important, experiments on invertebrates are largely unregulated and not included in statistics. Animals are euthanized after being used in a experiment. Some of these animals are purpose-bred and others are caught in the wild or they are supplied by dealers who obtain them from auctions and pounds. The testing on the animals are conducted inside universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, farms, defense establishments and commercial facilities that provide animal-testing services to industry. Some of the tests that researchers do on the animals are biomedical research transplantation, drug testing and toxicology test, cosmetics and other animals are used for directional research, breeding and defense research. Organizations like PETA and BUVA thinks it it not a necessity for this testings. They think is is cruel, poor scientific practice, poorly regulated and that animals used for experimentations have an intrinsic right not be be used for experimentation. Many Americans don’t agree with testing on animals. Testing animals is wrong and they are just poor helpless animals and they die every day. They are testing animals with products such has soap, household cleaners, drugs, cosmetics, pesticides and other chemicals. Drug tests that are done on animals that pass the test end up harming or killing humans. Lists of animals that get tested daily are cats, dogs, monkeys, mice, and rabbits. The researchers test these ...
Do you think animal testing is needed? Animal testing is cruel and inhumane. If they don’t find anything on the animal then the animal was killed for nothing. Animals shouldn’t be used for testing because animal testing is cruel and inhumane, animal can suffer like humans do, so it is speciesism to experiment on them while we refrain from experimenting on humans, and animals are very different from humans which makes them poor test subjects. First off, Animal testing is cruel and inhumane.
The laws in place Protect about five percent of the animals around the world from being tested and experimented on and restrict certain ways of testing. Sadly, the other ninety five percent of those animals are the animals that are most commonly tested on and were the most commonly used animals for testing even before the laws were put into place. “The AWA does not cover rats, mice, fish and birds, which comprise around 95% of the animals used in research, the AWA covered 1,134,693 animals used for testing in fiscal year 2010, which leaves around 25 million other animals that are not covered” (top pro con arguments). Luckily scientists have found new ways to do the Tests they have been running on animals in a laboratory setting or out of a petri dish, but the results they get are considered inconclusive because it's not on a living organism or human like condition. “Testing, such as studying cell cultures in a petri dish, can produce more relevant results than animal testing because human cells can be used” (Top pro con arguments). Animals are poor test subjects to relate to humans because Animals are not built the same way humans are. “The anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings” (Paul Furlong).” But are animals actually treated like humans in the first place? There are also no laws in place to restrict how animals are
Animal testing is a phrase that most people have heard but perhaps still unsure of what exactly is involved. Laboratories test cosmetic products and medications on animals to understand how the human body works. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters are used for laboratory experiments, which they all suffer during each medical procedure. Those who support animal testing may define it as an experiment that uses animals to benefit humans, where it saves lives and provides vital medical treatment. Regardless, animals deserve to live a life without being tortured.
Over half of the world's population thinks to do testing on animals is fine. I personally believe that animal testing is not alright and it shouldn’t be happening. Animals deserve to live their life without having to be tested on. Over twenty million animals are tested on in the United States.
People who are against animal testing believe that “Humans do not have the right to use animals” (Lin). As humans, we do not experiment on other humans without their consent, with few exceptions. We also would not experiment on someone who was unable to give permission of experimentation, and animals should fit into that category. Most of the time, the experiments that are the most dangerous and we would never think to do on humans are the experiments that we end up doing on animals. There are even
