Tom Robinson is innocent in the case of Mayella Ewell’s rape. When Tom was younger he got his left hand caught in a cotton gin, and could not use that hand. So, Tom couldn’t have hit Mayella Ewell on the right side of her face. Based on how Bob and Mayella Ewell’s testimonies didn’t match, they were lying when they told the jury that Mayella was rape by Tom Robinson. Because of this Tom Robinson’s case should have been ruled not guilty. This suggests that even though Tom Robinson was innocent, in the eyes of the court he would always be guilty because of his race. Since the Ewell’s lied about everything in their testimonies, Tom Robinson should have been innocent and set free.
o begin, it’s amiss to be vile towards the innocent. Tom robinson had just been convicted guilty of rape, mainly due to his skin tone, since there was good evidence proving his innocence, and questionable evidence saying otherwise. In chapter 22, Lee writes, “It was Jem’s turn to cry. His face was streaked with angry tears. . . . ‘It ain’t right, Atticus,’ said Jem. ‘No son, it’s not right.’” (Lee 284). This quote is saying how it was wrong to convict Tom, guilty of rape. Events like these can ruin innocence, just like it did to the children opening the door to adultery, exposing them to all the racism and prejudice in the world. Therefore the colour of Tom Robinson’s skin was the defining factor in the jury’s decision. Since the jury declared Tom Robinson guilty, that reveals his fate of going to jail and eventually being killed which is obviously an injustice based on the discrimination against him.
In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Tom Robinson, the black man falsely convicted of rape, had absolutely no chance of a fair trial. There is proof of this in the time period in which it occurred as well as evidence from the novel itself. Tom Robinson had an unfair trial because it was his word against the Ewell’s, a white, trashy family.
One of the things that Atticus says to the people of the court is that “ she tried to put away her evidence of her offence away for her but in this case, she was no child hiding stolen contraband: she struck out her victim of necessity she put him away from her -he must be removed from the presence of the world.” What Atticus is trying to say here is that if Tom was not a black man then this case would not be going on but because he is black there is a case on to prove he really did rape Mayella Ewell. Another thing that Atticus said is that “her father saw it”. What Atticus is trying to say here is that if Bob Ewell saw the rape then why would he not chase after Tom Robinson or call the doctor before he even called the cops. If she had been raped the first thing that Bob should have done would be to call the doctor for the bruises she got during the attack. This case should not even be going on here because both of the people that say that Tom Robinson raped Mayella Ewell where both racist so you can’t really tell if they are really telling the truth about if Tom Robison really do this horrible crime

Bob Ewell was able to persuade the jury and town that Tom Robinson, an innocent black man, had raped his daughter by provoking the stereotypes of black men.
"The only thing we've got is a black man's word against the Ewells'. The evidence boils down to you-did-I-didn't. The jury couldn't possibly be expected to take Tom Robinson's word against the Ewells'.
Dear ladies and gentlemen of the jury I urge you to bring back a verdict of guilty. There are many reasons for you to find Tom Robinson guilty. Tom has the strength to hurt Mayella, he ran away very fast, and there is evidence to prove Tom had a crush on Mayella. There is no reason Mayella would want Tom and Tom felt sorry for her. This is a case of who to believe and I am going to convince you that you should believe Mayella and Bob Ewell and not trust Tom Robinson.

INTRODUCTION: Tom is a nice, kind man and has been sent to court because of Bob Ewell accusing him of raping his daughter. Mr. Ewell has brought his daughter to his side but the reality is, Bob Ewell abused his daughter Mayella and began placing the blame on Tom because he is a black man, and Mr. Ewell assumes he will win in court. Considering that Tom is a black man and Bob is a white man, it’s nearly guaranteed that Bob would win because of his race. Bob accuses Tom Robinson of rape, when in reality Tom was a helpful man around the house for Mayella; she used that to her advantage in order to prevent her dad from going to prison.
The recent case of Tom Robinson was a quite intense case to many people. The case personally outraged me and many of my colleagues due to the irony of some of the people who were involved in the case. Only a portion of people agree with the verdict, I am not one of those few people. In my defense Tom Robinson is as innocent as anyone walking freely around this town today, and everything that was said in that courtroom proves it. It may not be very noticeable , but that specific case changed many things in Maycomb County , and it will continue to do so for generation unless something is done about the situation .
I was infuriated to hear the verdict when the jury convicted Tom Robinson. What made it even worse is the fact that it was a grueling one by one read out of each juror's verdict.
