Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare about two “star-crossed lovers” whose passionate love for each other ends in death. Who then is to blame? Romeo Montague is a young, handsome, intelligent, and sensitive teenager. Despite the feud between his family and the Capulets he is not at all interested in violence. His only interest is love. This leads him to acting impulsive and immature throughout the entire play ending in his and Juliet’s deaths.

Romeo's exaggerated language in his early speeches characterizes him as a young and inexperienced lover who is more in love with the concept of being in love than with the woman herself. Towards the beginning of the play Romeo is extremely depressed because of his love for Rosaline, a girl whom he can’t have. Because of this he goes to his enemy’s party to see her. As soon as he sees Juliet however he loses interest in Rosaline and instantly falls for Juliet because of her beauty. By modern standards this shows how he acted dumb in the fact that he puts himself in danger to go to a party just to see a girl he has a crush on. …show more content…

First off, it was mostly his fault that Mercutio died. By trying to stop the fight and putting himself in front of Mercutio, Tybalt couldn’t see and accidentally stabbed him. Acting like a boy that he is Romeo then had to get revenge and killed Tybalt before thinking about first. Some people may believe that Romeo was just defending Mercutio but if he had thought about it he would have come to the conclusion that Tybalt would have been punished
