In literature, blame is used to give full responsibility to others in attempt to make yourself look stronger by shifting fault. Most of the time, blame is used when we fear an outcome that is not favorable. In the story of “Romeo and Juliet”, written by William Shakespeare, blame is used to hide the truth and underlying meanings of the characters. Blame is thrown across the pages of the story in many different ways so a reader gets lost in the pointing of fingers. This causes readers to lose track of the truth at hand and forget the fact that Romeo and Juliet are dead, but no one really knows the exact reason why. If the characters had just looked outside their feud, they would have been able to analyze their deaths in a reasonable way and …show more content…
put the blame to the real factors. As many occurrences can be to blame for a situation like death, in Romeo and Juliet, there are only two factors that caused the fatal damage. The two factors to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are their living situations and the Capulet and Montague feud. In regards to blame, the living situations of Romeo and Juliet is a huge factor in the death of Romeo and Juliet.
By taking a deeper look into both Romeo and Juliet’s life, readers will see the darkness that brews within their living situation. It seems as if Juliet’s life is perfect and royal, but if you read a little deeper, you will see that she does not have a perfect life at home. The story flat out explains that her father is verbally and physically abusive, but readers skip over that fact because they are reading on the surface of the story. Juliet’s situation at hand has a major impact on her decisions and is to blame for her death. Similarly with Romeo, readers will read that he is a love sick kid who just wants to find love, but they miss the underlying fact that Romeo uses women to sleep with them and is never actually committed. When Rosalind breaks up with Romeo, he become upset that his “lover” left him and feels as if he needs someone else to rebound with. The situation Romeo is put in when broken up with forces him to feel a need to fulfill his loneliness, meet Juliet, fall in love, and die. Their situations are to blame for pushing both kids to rush into something that might have never been anything at all. When readers take this into consideration, they have to wonder if the love between them was actually real or if it was just a way for Juliet to escape her home and Romeo to become satisfied. both to blame for pushing them into rash decisions and forced them to see in only one way, which lead them to their death. The feud between the Capulet and Montague family is also to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Their long lasting feud made the impression that the opposite family is not to be fratanised with and they should never be able to fall in love. On Juliet’s side of the family, the Capulets, she is abused by her father and her cousin strongly urges her to never speak to Romeo because he is a Montague. Eventually, Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, gets enough of the growing love between Romeo and Juliet because he knows the two families are not supposed to have friendly encounters, and he decides to duel with Romeo. Romeo, having just married Juliet and is now part of the Capulet family, does not want to duel with Tybalt, but when Tybalt kills Romeo’s friend, the duel is on. The feud between these two families drives Romeo and Juliet to sneak around to meet. In return, they plan to escape together in order to be free of their families and end up dying in the process. Romeos side of the family, the Montagues, also believe in no friendly contact with the Capulets, but Romeo can not deny his love for Juliet. He ends up giving up the Montague name in order to marry Juliet and live with her forever. Tybalt still will not allow this and he decides to duel Romeo in which Tybalt perishes. The hate brought on by Tybalt forces Romeo to rashly kill Tybalt and have Juliet decide to have them run away, which does not happen. The undying feud of the families forces so much hate on the relationship
of Romeo and Juliet to where they get caught in the crossfire and forfeit their lives. A quote written by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend argues, “We live in a culture of blame. People will blame anyone or anything for their misery sooner than take the responsibility to own it and make it better.” This quote is arguing that as a society, we will put the blame for our actions on anyone and anything but ourselves in order to escape an outcome that is not favorable. This quote fully supports the blame factor for the death of Romeo and Juliet because it demonstrates the mindset of those responsible for their death and how they push the blame to anyone and anything but themselves to keep everyone’s accusations at bay. The characters in Romeo and Juliet use their feud as a pathway to automatically blame the opposite family for the death at hand. Whatever the cause, blame is a natural thing that is not always evil, but people do it to look more responsible and to make sure they are not seen as less than in the eyes of their peers.

Romeo and Juliet Essay Every action we take, decision we make, and person we fall in love with always leads us to our inevitable destiny. Some people are meant to live happily ever after, while others may not be so lucky. Romeo and Juliet ended up being one of those not-so-lucky couples. Born as enemies, their love ended up pulling them closer to their destiny, which was proven to be death.
Before I discuss my modifications to the play and how I would go about directing my own version, the way I see the relationship between Romeo and Juliet should be looked at. In my opinion, the couple isn’t genuinely in love. They feelings they have for each other is pure lust, rather then a deep passionate love. I find it unlikely that they can know each other well enough and on such a personal level to have a lasting, meaningful relationship. One minute Romeo is entirely in love with Rosaline and the next Juliet comes in to the picture and Rosaline goes out of his mind entirely. Shakespeare made note of this, by having Friar Lawrence state a question about Romeo’s short love affair with Rosaline. ‘Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.’ (2, 3, 65-68)
