In the Crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor is a Reverend who seems to be having a few issues. His love, Elizabeth, has been at his side since the beginning, but then finds out something so devastating and everything gets turned around. A healthy relationship starts with two people who fall for each other and take care of one another to keep them safe; someone who stays faithful and loyal. John and Elizabeth had this kind of relationship for a while, but when someone else came along with their relationship starts to tear. After years of being together, Proctor had an affair. Before Abigail came along, Elizabeth and John were a very happy couple with three boys. They never mentioned having any issues before the incident. Elizabeth never
suspected anything for the longest time. It wasn’t until Abby and John started acting weird around the house that Elizabeth noticed something. Abby Williams worked for the Proctors as a servant. When Elizabeth started seeing these signs they fired Abigail. Being the “good” christian man, Reverend Proctor is he confessed to having an affair with Abigail Williams to Elizabeth. After the affair between John and Abigail, Elizabeth hasn’t really been able to trust John which is understandable. Once Elizabeth found out about the affair it was interrupted and cut short. Abigail was not very happy about this. She is now trying to get Elizabeth out of the picture by doing the most outrageous things. She is so self conceited and still wants John. Abby is so odd and weird that she was crazy enough to stab herself with a needle and try to put the blame on Elizabeth. From the before the affair to after Abby still has the same feelings and will do anything to try and make it work. Since the two of them are still “in love” and have kids they are staying together as of right now. Elizabeth and John are in a tough spot because they might still love each other but where is the love without any trust?
