Morality is the principle concerning the distinction between right and wrong, or good and bad behavior. The book “To Kill A Mockingbird,” displays a number of characters who are willing to do the right thing morally, but also a lot who won’t. Of those characters who won't, the one worst is Bob Ewell, the main antagonist of the novel. He is known as a drunkard and abuser who is despised throughout the community and even his own family. Bob Ewell falsely accuses black man, Tom Robinson, of “raping his daughter,” Mayella Violet Ewell. In his mind, the town should think of him as a hero for saving Maycomb’s white women from a “dangerous” black man but, in reality Bob was the dangerous one. There are many reasons as to why Bob Ewell is the character with the worst morality, but one of the main reasons is because he accused Tom Robinson of raping his daughter, Mayella. …show more content…

Tom was later taken to trial due to the fact that racism took over just because he was a black man. During trial, Bob Ewell states “Well, Mayella was raisin‘ this holy racket so I dropped m’load and ran as fast as I could, but I ran into th’ fence, but when I got distangled I ran up to th‘ window and I saw—” Mr. Ewell’s face grew scarlet. He stood up and pointed his finger at Tom Robinson. “—I seen that black n***** yonder ruttin’ on my Mayella!” Condemning Tom Robinson to prison, and by extension, to death. These words formed an immediate and violent reaction in the courtroom. It makes it clear that although things did not happen the way Bob describes them, his description of everything provides the jury and the community to such a great extent that it will cost an innocent man's life. Bob Ewells horrible acts don’t just end here, after the trial of Tom Robinson, he tries to kill Atticus Finch’s children because of their fathers efforts against Mr. Ewell.
