WHITNEY HOUSTON AND BOBBY BROWN Introduction Among the most turbulent relationships in Hollywood history was that between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. The couple's union was perfect for the Billboard charts. They tied the knot in July 1992, and since then, their marriage has been anything but smooth sailing. Their chemistry was palpable the moment they crossed paths in 1989. Not only did they share a common history, but they also had a deep musical affinity. Houston had an impact on Brown, as he reflected in his 2016 memoir, Every Little Step. Despite having a child, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and continuing to be successful in their professions, the couple struggled with addiction, alcoholism, and marital problems over their fourteen years of marriage. Tragically, Houston drowned in a hotel bathtub in 2012 at the young age of 48. Cocaine and several prescription drugs were detected in her system, according to a toxicology report.
