The day that I turned 12 was a special day. It was special because it meant I was old enough to go hunting. When fall hit I was so excited I thought I was going to explode. The first time that I sat out in the woods, a new obsession of mine was created. I loved seeing all the wildlife, and overall beauty of nature. From the beginning I wanted to learn more about Whitetail hunting, and know why they deer did what they did. I was fascinated with the lifestyle that surrounded hunting itself. If you were to ask hunters compared to non-hunters about random questions i’m sure that you would get different answers. People who hunt view life differently because it is a way of life. It truly is an eye opening experience that I hope everyone gets to experience. I almost can 't describe the feelings that go through my body because there are so many. First of all you have to wake up at about 5:30 on a normal day. I hate this part with a passion, and it is honestly terrible. Nothing in life is perfect though and it is something that I have to deal with. Next thing is to get dressed, and I 've learned that this step can be even worst. You have to get out of your warm sleeping bag and get up to a cold cabin since the fire ran out of wood. The process take at least 10 minutes especially if it 's cold out am i 'm talking temperatures under 20 degrees. You know it 's going to be a tough one, and your toes and fingers are going to get cold. Once you drive out to your spot with either a four-wheeler or the truck you have to start walking. Since I dress in layers it is important that I don 't dress to warm, because then I can start to sweat. Sweating will make you colder. When i’m walking to my stand I make sure to move as slow as possible. This is to make sure that you don’t spook any deer, and basically preserve the peace in the woods. Then all of sudden the sun breaks the trees, and the woods comes alive. All the birds …show more content…

The deer themselves are a whole part of hunting that hunters and I will never truly understand. I have learned in the 6 years that I have been hunting that you never know what is going to happen. Deer move when they want to move, and do what they want. You can get as many trail cam pics, and plant as many food plots as you want but you don 't know when that deer will come in. As my dad always says,” You never know what is going to happen, and your hunt can change in 2 seconds.” Every year around halloween these deer begin to breed. This time period is also known as the rut, and a deers mind changes completely. All the bucks have to breed all the does in a certain time period so that the fawns are big enough for the next winter. When the rut starts the bucks are on the move. I have learned that ridge lines, transition lines, bedding areas are all high percentage area that these deer will be. In a day a buck could cover a whomping 3000 acres and I have witnessed this before. I have seen deer on ones side of our property in the morning, and the same deer all the way on the other side at night. Even though these deer are moving fairly fast throughout the day they still know about hunting pressure. They are able to sense if you are in your stand and how many times you have been there. I have learned that you can not over hunt a certain stand. No matter what it seems that they deer are always able to outwit me.
