How Should Deer Baiting Be Illegal

The great debate is the most commonly talked about debate among hunters. It is the debate over whether deer baiting should be legal or illegal. Many hunters believe that baiting should be legal for hunting but little do they know of the consequences and problems baiting can do to whitetail deer. Other hunters believe it should be illegal because of the ethnicity of it on hunting in general. There are many more reasons that they think that it should be banned and many other reasons why it should be legal. Baiting should be illegal for multiple different reasons including disease control, but not only is it that but because it does not give the deer a fair chance. In addition, baiting deer can enhance the chances of catching a disease. This is is mainly caused by nose to nose contact among deer. Baiting increases the chance of catching disease for deer because it brings them together and creates more saliva or feces on the bait pile (Norman). This is what causes nose to nose contact. When hunters put a plethora of bait out it draws deer from all over and concentrates them in one area and harms the habitat. Which is why baiting should be illegal for hunters. This happens because the deer are staying around the bait pile because it is a easy meal for them. It makes the deer's life easier because they do not have to search for food. Because they are just like humans, they would rather do the easier way than the hard way. So when these deer come together they overpopulate the habitat and cause it to be run down and they eventually ruin it. In this case baiting deer needs to be banned because it can destroy the habitat that they live in and will hunters will lose deer hunting
